Poll: Does Clinton Have A Problem With Black Voters?

In all honesty I'm a 31 year old black man who could vote for McCain. I'm socially liberal but fiscally conservative. My biggest problem with McCain and the Repubs over the past several years is their foreign policy. If they would adhere to the foreign policy of Bush Sr. they could get my vote. posted 04/28/2008 at 13:11:37
She has a problem with educated whites, and apparently whites who are grass roots activists. posted 04/28/2008 at 12:54:50
We lost what? We are ahead in elected delegates, popular votes and states won. Despite Clinton's recent victories she lost this race in February when she chose not to contest those smaller states. For someone who is supposed to be ready on day one, she obviously wasn't ready the first day of her campaign.

Instead of looking at who won what recently, how about look at the total race as if it all happened in one day. At the end of the day Obama won more states, delegates, and the popular votes. posted 04/28/2008 at 12:53:54
The Clinton's are only loyal to the Clinton's. As long as they are in control of the Democratic party they are fine. But if the democratic voters choose someone else, they would tear the party apart just to maintain control. Apparently you don't look at the polls. Just because Obama may not win a couple of states Hillary might win doesn't mean he doesn't have a clear path to 270 electoral votes needed to win the presidency. Obama can win states the Hillary cannot. For example he leads McCain by 8% in Indiana which has been a red state for the past 50 years. Obama is also much stronger in a lot of western states that McCain already has huge leads over Clinton.

So why don't you grasp that. posted 04/28/2008 at 12:48:12
Hillary has a lot more baggage than you apparently know about. The media isn't talking about it, and the Obama campaign isn't going stoop to that level. But I guarantee you if Hillary gets the nomination the Republicans won't hesitate to air all of the Clinton's dirty laundry. The only thing they have on Obama are associations. Both Hillary and Bill are directly involved in the dirt the Republicans will use against them. posted 04/28/2008 at 12:36:51
I'm a 31 year old Black man who voted for Bill Clinton in '96 the first year I was eligible. I continued to like the Clinton's until South Carolina. I still don't think the Clinton's are racist, but I do believe they tried to use race to win. I think they intended on trying to paint Obama as the "black candidate" to create a backlash with white voters. It obviously didn't work since Obama won 11 straight contests in February powered by white voters as well as black. In my opinion, regardless of what has happened since then, Obama sealed the nomination when he pulled so far ahead in the delegate count . At this point Clinton still cannot catch Obama in the delegate count, which according to the rules determines the nominee. If Clinton was able to pull ahead in the pledged delegate count I could consider voting for her; but if the superdelegates overturned the will of the people there is no way I'd for her or any democrat for the foreseeable future. I also think that in the future the winner of the popular vote should determine the nominee, but since those weren't the rules when this current process started only the winner of the pledged delegates should be considered. posted 04/28/2008 at 12:33:06

McCain calls Obama insensitive to poor people

As soon as they lower the price .18 the oil companies with raise the price to compensate for that. In the mean time roads and bridges will start to fall apart because of lack of funding, which is what the gas tax pays for. I'd prefer not to have my capital gains taxes increased. But that won't affect the "poor" or middle class people who don't invest. But I'd rather vote Obama and have my capital gains tax raised and that money used domestically, than vote McCain and continuing wasting 70 billion dollars every month in Iraq for the next 100 years. posted 04/28/2008 at 07:38:07

Democrats Fear Clinton's Attacks May Cause Racial Backlash

The time is now. This country cannot endure 8 more years of division and corporate politics. If Hillary gets the nomination we all have already lost. It doens' t matter if McCain wins or not. Obama would be better off in the Senate than her VP. posted 04/26/2008 at 11:12:35
Hillary is such a liar and a corporate politician I think she'll be just as bad as Bush. I don't beleive she'll get us out of Iraq. She'll make up some lie as to why we can't get out. Many forget that before the campaign started and she was the inevitable nominee she was pandering to Repubs and independents saying she plans on keeping the troops in iraq. she only changed her tune when she started getting competition from Obama for the democratic base. posted 04/26/2008 at 11:06:55
She won by 9%. Add in Rush Limbaugh Repubs, and bigots who voted against a black man and you have your answer. posted 04/26/2008 at 11:02:05
Latino's aren't a loyal base to the democrats, al lot of them voted for Bush in 2000 and 2004. Hillary only gets the uneducated whites. the educated whites vote for obama. And Asians only make up 5% of the population. If the Dem's alienate the AA community the party would be damaged for the foreseeable future. The Repubs can win without the AA vote but the Dems can't. posted 04/26/2008 at 10:59:25
Unfortunately we count the total number of delegates. It doesn't matter if she's just 3% behind. She's 140 delegates behind with only 500 more up for grabs. She would need to win 70% of the remaining delegates to catch up to Obama. posted 04/26/2008 at 10:54:49
Blacks are the most loyal base of the Democratic party. Latinos helped put Bush in office. Obama got a lot of the white vote as well. Just because he didn't in the past few contests doesn't mean it has been that divided for the 40+ contests so far. Remember Iowa a 95% white population where Obama won, then Wisconsin, Wyoming, the Dakata's, the list goes on. He would not have gotten this far if it weren't for the support of a lot of white voters. And the working class voters Hillary is getting swings back and forth from Democrats to Republicans. Blacks are the only base that consistently votes democrat no matter who's running on either side. So thats why the DNC values their vote so much. posted 04/26/2008 at 10:50:24

Obama Backer: Irreparable Breach Between Clinton And Blacks Is Foreseeable

I'm a 31 year old black man. I was 15 when Bill Clinton was first elected. What impressed me and many black people at the time was when he went on the Arsenio Hall show and played the saxaphone. I think that was the moment he connected with the AA community. I voted for him in '96 the first year I was eligible to vote. And I supported him while the right wing was trying to impeach him.
I considered voting for Hillary before Obama's campaign only because I thought she was the best bet to beat the republicans. Though I didn't want to go through another 4-8 years of scandals, I also didn't want 4 more years of Bush. When the race started I saw we had a few other good choices in Obama, Biden, Kucinich, Ron Paul, and Mike Gravel. The only viable candidate left is now Obama. Even though I was supporting Obama I still liked the Clintons before South Carolina. But when they started race bating and trying to turn Obama into the black candidate, whereas before he was a candidate who happened to be black, I stopped liking the Clintons. Every negative attack, lie, and smear since then has only made me like them less. I don't see that changing in the foreseeable future. Unless they campaign with all their heart for Obama once Hillary finally drops out or the superdelegates finally get off their butts and support the inevitable candidate Obama. posted 04/26/2008 at 01:55:26

Media Jump Ship From Obama To Clinton

Because he was running against Hillary. In the fall he'll be running against McCain. If they blue collar workers vote for a Bush 3rd term they deserve what they get, and deserve to be in the situation they are in. posted 04/25/2008 at 01:07:29

Clinton Donors Object to Pelosi Comment

Please tell me, if the popular vote and the pledged delegate count doesn't matter, why bother having elections at all. We can save everybody a lot of time and money and just let a select number of officials decide the next president like they do in China. posted 03/27/2008 at 13:54:19
