Analysis: Obama reacts fast to Bush on diplomacy

Last continuation,

Come on, give it a chance, take a fresh look. He said in North Carolina that this election is not about him, but about the people of America. We the people are the Government, and we are the ones who will make the changes. If you want change become that change. That is the call that Obama makes.

I suppose that people told Adams and Jefferson that they were stupid to think that people could rule themselves. It seems that they were not so stupid after all. We have it in our power to call upon the clarity of vision they had and once again tear power, peacefully, from the hands of an unresponsive distracted government. posted 05/16/2008 at 23:29:21
Continued-

Obama on the other hand refused to go along with that and called upon Americans to conserve gas and invest in new renewable energy. THe reason he was against the Tax Holiday was he had Experience with that before as a legislator in Illinois. IT did not work that the state did not try it again. So where was all the experience that McCAin and Clinton are supposed to have.

Obama is rebuilding the Democrat Party. He has managed what none of the other candidates have done, an organization made up of real people who have worked for and donated money to Obama to the tune of about 2 million people. NOw Obama is using that oprganization to get people who have not been part of the process to register to vote.

Bottom line is that when Obama takes office in January of 2009, He will have the power of voters who express to the members of Congress that they want change. No President can change things overnight but one who challenges people to exercise the freedom they already have and motivate their representives in Washington, can begin the process that achieves the list you gave in your post. posted 05/16/2008 at 23:28:52
Well as one of the Stupid Obama people I will tell you that clearly Obama does not have all the answers, and most likely will not have any of the results that you list abouve, but then he is not promising that is he?
Since you are so much smarter than we Obama folk, why don't you clear what you think Obama is about and look at the evidence. It is there.

Obama promises that the old way of doing things in washington will change. Like Republican have said but done very little about Obama does not believe that Government has all the answers. Obama calls his followers to take responsibilty for themselves. So when McCain and Clinton responded to the frustration of the voters over high gas prices they did so with the suggestion that Governemnt give us a tax holiday. McCain would not worry about the loss fo tax revenue, he would just short the work on our Highway and Bridge infrastructure and lay off the workers who to that work. Clinton os the other hand would pay for it with Windfall Profits taxes on the oil companies. Both are just offering a gimmick that neither can really do anything about.

Tennessee GOP Attacks Michelle Obama, Obama Camp Hits Back

So I guess that Huffington Post moderates these blogs by computers. If you want to link to another URL, which is often requires if what needs to be said is over the 250 words, then they bounce you out, but if you replace the periods with (dot) the computer does not read that as a URL and you get in. All the time however I was being told that my post had already been posted, wehen that was not true. If one programs their computers to lie then that is the same thing as the humans lying. That is expected of Bush, Not Huffington - or I would like to belive that. You can not trust the MSM nor can you trust the MSB (Main Stream Bloggers) posted 05/16/2008 at 03:33:03

Dear Sirs,

I am writing in reference to your ad about being proud to be an American.

I am a 61-year-old white Texan. I have never understood the Pride thing. I am a citizen of the United States of America. That is a fact that I had little to do with. There are times when I am proud of the United States and times that I regret that I can not do more to stop some actions that are done in my name by the Representatives that I and my fellow citizens elect...

I am a Vietnam veteran, 1967-68, 15th Medical Battalion, attached to the First Cavalry. It was my duty as a citizen to serve but I was not proud of my countries participation in that conflict....

Massive Blowback To NARAL's Obama Endorsement

Sexist is as sexist does. Men are for the rights of a woman to make reproductive choices without the Government interfereing. It is not a feminist issue. IT may be an issuein which feminist are interested but it not a feminist issue. If you make your choice to vote for a candidate for President on a persons gender, color, or religion, you are no different than those who vote against them for the same reason.

If Hillary were not a woman she would never have gotten this far. She has shown that she has poor organizational skills, lacks judgment in her choice of people he relies upon, can't tell the truth from a lie, and she is mean in her ambition. She is self obessed leaving any care of concern about the party lagging way behind.

She is where she is becasue there is a segment of the womens rights movement that want a woman as President at any cost. So much so that they will turn upon other women when challeged, as this report clearly shows. posted 05/15/2008 at 13:49:09

What Should Obama Do In West Virginia and Kentucky?

I guess anything is possible, Nixon won in 1968 and nearly destroyed the country then. I guess as long as there are "stupid" people anything is possible. And I could not agree with you more, stupid is as stupid does. It cuts both ways though. posted 05/11/2008 at 23:34:06
Here is the resolution:

I do not know what you base your opinion upon, but here is the resolution that Hillary voted for in October of 2002. You will note that the verbage you used about it being some limited desire to get inpectors back in Iraq do not appear in anyform. There is a cover of authorizing Bush to do what he could through the UN, but it followed by a complete capitulation of congress to allow Bush to pretty much do whatever he wanted.

This is not an opinion, it is the actual document that was voted upon.

If it were as you say all Hillary would have needed to say is that Bush overstepped the authorization and acted not in accordance with the wishes of Congress, but what she did say was that if she had known then what she new later she would not have voted for the resolution.

Clearly she was aware that she was voting to give Bush the clearance without further consultation from congress to wage "war". IT is of course not legal. The Constitution does not provide for congress to abdicate its responsibilities. For war there must be a clear declaration of war. So Congress cried uncle out of fear for their political lives and allowed a President to act in violation of the Constitution to ask 4000+ men and women to give up their actual lives, for nothing. posted 05/11/2008 at 23:29:18

Obama's Consolidation of the Party

There are a few new ways we will have to learn. First and formost is the people who backed and funded the Republican attack machine. Like it or not they are part of America. They will have to be dealt with, and should be, in a way that does not emascualte them, but that lets them set at the table. A table with no guns on or under it.

We who describe ourselves as progressive ( I still do not know what that word means today) will have to forgo and desires to punish those who brought our country to the brink of destruction. We sill ahve to learn to live with some policies that we don't like. We are all goingto have to learn a new way of living. A lot of what is happening to our country and our way oflife comes from the fact that we are outnumbered in the world and the rest of the world can shut us down. We must seek strength a new way, by controling ourselves rather than controling others.

I am up for that challenge, I hope we are all. posted 05/08/2008 at 11:35:42

Note to Senator Obama

Dear Mr. Warner,

A gratious gift is not a bribe. Part of the culture in Washington is the paranoia that mistrusts and believes that others are out to get us. Hillary had completely absorbed that idea and may have gone to Washingto with it.

We are a diverse people and for us to survive we must learn to share and forgive. We can not continue the politics of hate. I could never have voted for Hillary. It was not that she voted for the authorization of funds for the disater in Iraq, but because she insulted my intelligence by telling me that she did not know better. For that lack of knowledge or lie, too many men and women have lost their lives.

We must reply to Hatred with Love. We are the largest most powerful Military in History, yet we have twice been unable to overcome a small determined population. That is because Might is not strength, Love is.

If Obama heals the party by paying off Clinton'd debt, that is fine with me.

Hope? When Obama said on Tuesday night that the campaign was not about him, he sealed the deal with me. It is not about Hillary either. When you seek to punish Hillary you make it about her. It is not, it is about us. In that equation the only person I am in control of is me. For me it is about acceptance, redemption, and forgiveness, or it about nothing. posted 05/08/2008 at 11:01:11

Indiana, North Carolina Primaries: Voters Get Ready To Settle Remaining Contests

Have you ever considered that the "rest of us" may not be stupid - which means incapable of intellegent thought - but are ignorant. The American people supported the actionin Iraq overwhelmingly, noit becasue they were stupid they were ignorant. The reason they were ignorant is that they were lied to, and they had lives that required their attention. The MSM knew it was a lie but who owns the MSM?

Moving to Canada or elsewhere would probably be a good idea, but it does not make the people in the US any smarter or well informed.

I do not agree with all the gonuts said, but he is not far from the mark. I do not think he is saying that you are stupid, I think he is saying the information you get is highly controled. That is unfortuantely true. If you have the internet, read what the world press that is not controlled by US Corporations has to say about things. That is a very different picture. posted 05/06/2008 at 11:33:58

Clinton Camp Says It Will Use The Nuclear Option

It is my theory that the Democrat Party died on the streets of Chicago in 1968. The PArty has not elected a President since then, both Carter and Clinton were outsiders that won despite the Party establishment and never really worked that well within the Party as President.

Surely if Clinton Bombs the Party that now exists on life support - pretty much unable to get anything done - the plug would be pulled. IT is time one way or the other to ditch the entrencehed leaders and start over. A good start would be to define exactly what such a new Party would stand for. Therein lies the rub. What are we Democrats? Liberal? Progressive?

We all know what the problems are but not many real solutions that are not just rehashed old failed ideas. It is a new day in a New World, and we need to rethink everything.

We were what we were before the rise of the MI Complex, now know as Corporate Facisim, because of our values (pre 1949). We need to go back and figure out what they were. One might be surprised at how close a lot of us who are red and blue really are. Once you cut through the lies that we have been told for the last 28 years there is a lot of common ground. posted 05/04/2008 at 17:33:44

MoveOn: Obama Got Outfoxed

I am greatly comforted by the comments so far to this comment thread. Move0n .org is a vital part of the "liberal" or "progressive " movement, but they are activists. THe President of the United States has to prepresent all the people. It is clear that Bush didn't and Bill Clinton did, and got into trouble with the Democrats over it, but it was the right thing.

Winning the Presidency does not entitle a person or party to do whatevver they want. The current Republicans came in to political "maturity " hearing and believing the lies of their party. When they secured the hall of governance they acted like they believed Democrats had. The results have been devastating to the Country and the Party.

It is time that we again had an American President rather than a Democrat or Republican President. A Party is a tool to articulate and represent an set of ideas about governance. It can be a collection of various single issue constituencies, but it can not become the slave to them.

Obama did the right thing going on Fox and not attack them. I think that he is just about right for the country and hope that others will see that. It seems that a new generation is arising that can be pragmatic without being weak.

I support both MoveOn.org and Obama. Both have a needed function in the process. I hope to see MoveOn.org keep the pressure on President Obama. posted 04/29/2008 at 11:22:46

Hillary has shown she is not Bill (some of us knew that long ago) and seems to be not a very nice person. But then there is a lot of that going around.

He Blinded Me Without Science

In a democratic society (republic or not) people are free to believe what they want. Those who are threatened by others beliefs (including atheism) are people of weak faith and need to be encouraged to find strength in their fatih, but otherwise ignored. A person who is not able to be strong on their own faith should never be allowed to be in charge in anyway with protecting the rights of other's faith. posted 04/18/2008 at 12:31:37
First, let me say that ID us absurd as a "scientific" theory and an insult to people of faith that understand clearly that the version of creation as outlined in the Bible was never intended to be competitive in the secular world. It would be just as absurd to offer a scientific explanation of how the resurection of Jesus or the Virgin Birth is scientificially sound. These are matters of faith, period. That should be self-evident to the religious leaders who throw this garbage at us, but they are lostin trying to make the Divine earthly.

Second, it is silly to deny that there is a large segment of the scientific community that is totally condescending toward the religious community and can at times be rather savage in their condescention. The fact is that Science is really no more than a very fact driven religion. The dirty little secret that scientists hide is that no one really knows anything. The best we can say is that there is common acceptance of certain unprovable concepts and that it would be nonsence not have that common acceptance.

Science is just as much as a relgion as Christianity and Judaism, it is just not a theology. posted 04/18/2008 at 12:31:07

Jesus for President, a Review for Atheists -- Part 2: God's Story

What is simplistic is "it is not very kind to the kings." The assumption is tht because some people believe that the what you dedscribe, that there is no other train of thought.

The idea of a communal truth is the whole reason why we have a thousand different denominations. Either the Bible is the unerring word of God or it isn't. I vote for the latter. The problem with that is then there is no consistant way to interpret the BIble. Of course there never was anyway.

Jesus, divine or not, laid out an indiviualist path to God. If one professes to be a Christian it is hard to escape from the fact that (as represented in the New Testament) Jesus said that he is the way and the only way to God. Jesus was a proponent of relativism, ("if your right hand offend thee, cut it off") and suggests an individual God with no real need for man made dogma. The church is meant for support than a dispenser of of truth. It is hard to be honeswt about Jesus' words and find anything but love and acceptance.

If you begin to cut out snipets then why even bother, you are essentially making your own truth and seeking to link to the Bible. posted 04/02/2008 at 10:13:17
Are you sure that I don't even know that you are here? The problem with the "we can never really know anything - with which I agree - is that it is circular and ultimately meaningless. As a fundamental it important, but past that it amounts to little more that a schoolyard match of "you are to, am not".

What the arguement does highlight is the fact that exitance and non-existance are co-phenomena. But then how can I be sure? posted 04/02/2008 at 09:45:42

Certainly in an era of self absorbtion there would be the need to redefine God in our own current image, just as orevious generations have sought to understand or define God in their image.

This might seem like the begining of a post by an atheist, but that is far from true. Understanding God requires reason. The word god has been so clearly associated with myth and misinterpretation that it is time to use reason to divine that which is eternal and true.

I was raised in the Church and left it in my early 20's. I dabled with atheisma and agnosticism, but keep being drawn back to the certianty that there was something at work in creation that was constant and true.

I am Thomas. I require to be shown the scars feel the wound. Over time I have evolved to a peace with the uncertianty of creation and the fact that there is a foirce that guides us. That is God, but not the god of common understanding,

Christians are always on dangerous grounds when they go back to the old testament for belief models. The New Testament tells us that God is Love and we are to Love God and our fellow man, all the rest is just notes on problems faced by the early church.

Nor do the "progressive" media and bloggers. Even the anti-war champions like Glenn Greenwald still consort with apologists for the war. You can't call the Repubilcans or Bushies on a war of which your own "friends" will not let go.

It is time for moral clarity. Either you are against the war and all who maintain it or you are for it. There is no middle ground, nor area of safety in silence or indecision. posted 03/30/2008 at 08:48:08
Yes it was Bush's War and the PNAC and Neo Con Cabbal, but now we all have our fingers in it. We knew in 2005 we were wrong and yet we are still there. We took back the congress and yet we are still there.

There is not a lot of need for debate. We got into Iraq and declared victory in less than 90 days, we can get completely out in 180. We need to leave behind what wehave illegally built an come home.

Reid and Pelosi and the leadership of the Democrat Party in Congress need to resign and let those who have fought against this war take their place.

We need a complete clean sweep. It ain't just Bush's war no more. Check you hands, there is blood there somewhere. One can not expect to be free of a crime until they stop commiting it. posted 03/30/2008 at 08:41:51

Same tired logic that "progressives" have put forth for over three years. The US need to learn the limits of power and realize a person or a state must fix their own problems. Outside help may be offered, but invading a country destroying its infrastructure twice and the occupying the country is n ot help it is outside interferance and the only way to "correct" the problem is our quick and immediate withdrawal. There is no other course.

The US can not even fix its own problems. The corporate facists are about to wreck our economy, the war drains our wealth in money and in blood. Our infrastructure us falling apart, educational system is in danger, and the middle class (the foundation of the US) is about to be wiped from existence. Yet we persist that we can fix other peoples problems? Foolish.
