One thing I will take exception with you on this is the amount of mental issues in the population. The population of the 13 states was of course smaller hence the instances of metal health issues. Also at that time most or all the people that were lumped into the catagory of madness were either institutionalized or kept out of the mainstream by family. So the founding fathers had no idea or way to know what the adavances would be in mental health 200 years later. So now we do have a greater number of the population mainstreamed with these issues. Many are being helped by medications, counseling and support groups. So all affected by mental illness are not a threat, however the wisdom of this ruling is foolish, there really should be no place in a civilized society for guns. posted 06/26/2008 at 12:16:21
