Clinton: Obama Not Winning Over "Hard-Working Americans, White Americans"

Everything is fair in politics -- or is it? The next thing we'll see is the Clinton using the "n" word attempting to pander to white bigots. Why not a couple of racy jokes? I have worked with working class people all my life. My father was a tailor; uncles worked for the Southern Pacific. I worked 60 hours a week, as a janitor etc, carried 18 units and eventually got a PhD. I am against elitism -- but I also criticize anti-intellectualism. Education and reason are not dirty words. posted 05/08/2008 at 11:25:57

Flashback: Read McCain's 'Mission Accomplished' Iraq Speech

Neither McCain nor Bush want to be held accountable for their pasts. I commensurate with the time that McCain spent as a POW. But the sad fact is that the US should have never been in Vietnam. We did not have a moral or legal right to be there. Being an American veteran does not absolve us from judgment or international law. I am a Korean War Veteran -- and that does not make me special. Are Japanese, German or Italian war veterans heroes? They fought for their countries. Bush is a war criminal. Even the pope has labeled the Iraq War as an unjust war. It was a violation of international law. Under the terms of Nuremberg we could be judged. (It sends the message that if the Nazis would have won that they would not be culpable for their crimes). "Mission Accomplished" is tragic because of the effect, which means less education for the poor, less medical care and more crime in the future. Bush should be impeached. posted 05/02/2008 at 14:14:34

Gingrich: Left Wing Of The Democratic Party "Admires" American Terrorists

Gingrich is an idiot. It is like anyone saying that a wing of the Republican party loved SS Troopers and point to the fact that many agree with pro-life people who blow up planned parenthood clinics. Gingrich and his friends Lou Dobbs,Sean Hannity, Brit Hume, and Rush Limbaugh all proudly wear flag pins but were draft dodgers. Gingrich compounded it by wearing a wedding band and took off when he learned his first wife had cancer. These guys would defecate in their pants if they saw a terrorist. posted 04/19/2008 at 20:22:20

Obama's Ayers Issue

Anyone who would give the Ayers relationship credibility has never worked in a minority community. Activist just don't ask people for their credentials; most organizations are usually short of volunteers.. The Chicano community today is being ripped apart by the lack of unity in the progressive left on this issue. Arizona legislators have just passed a bill out of committee to outlaw the Movimiento Estudiantil de Aztlan, a Chicano student group, from the high school and college campuses. It calls for the banning of my book "Occupied America" from the campuses. If this goes through, who are we going to turn to? People who never been involved in a social movement or that circle of people who don't go home and watch one inane program after the other. Who pass out petitions etc. When I was younger I went to an event where the majority of the people were a generation of anti-fascist Jewish senior citizens who at one time in their lives had been communists. These people pledged their social security checks for the cause of the poor. I don't think I would have been much of a human being if I would not acknowledge their altruism. No matter what you think of Ayers, it would be much easier for him to retire to his home than to have to prove himself to idiots. posted 04/19/2008 at 00:20:51

Stephanopoulos Once Criticized The Tactics He Put To Use In Debate

As a professor I am critical of the present professionals getting out of graduate school who go to school grades K-20. They never experience real life. Stephanopoulous is one of those eggheads who has never participated real life. I noticed the other day that the internet listed several pedophiles in my neighborhood, I have routinely spoken to one of them over the years, should I be held accountable for knowing him? I find these people much more offensive than the Weathermen who whether you agree with them or not stood for something. Let's grow up, yes they advocated violence to bring about the greater good. However, pro-lifers committed more acts of violence than leftist and society writes them off as misguided. About wearing a flag pin. I know many married men who wear wedding rings and cheat with impunity. I know others who don't and are faithful. My theory is that many neocons are obsessed with flag pins because they never went to the service -- not because they philosophically were against war but because they were cowards. Now they feel guilty and have to show that they love America like the husband who flashes his ring around. posted 04/18/2008 at 10:15:25

Hillary And The Commies

I think Marc misses the point. Hillary's whole campaign has opened the door to nasty red-baiting which obscures real issues such as the war and the lack of financing for health and education. He is a bit hard on the Weathermen. I have worked with former members and admire the fact that they have remained active their entire lives. And like the IWW and the communist they remained so their entire lives. I have lived a long life and I find that people I disagreed and fought with on obscure points such as the National Question are today my good friends. Everyone else has died off. I am a bit more concerned when I realize George Coker was John McCain's best friend. Watching the documentary "Hearts and Minds" I cringe at his use of the word "gooks" and saying that the country would be a beautiful country without the people. Getting back to red-baiting. Well, I know the Clintons opened it up but do we have to be like them? posted 04/17/2008 at 11:14:24

McCain: We'll Look Back On Iraq As An 'Academic Argument'

I hope that it will be analyzed. One of the positive sides of the Vietnam War was the documents. Mc Cain until recently referred to the Vietnamese as "gooks." His friend George Coker in the documentary "Hearts and Minds" referred to them as gooks. In response to a child's question of what Vietnam looked like, Coker responded that it would a beautiful country without its people. They screwed up everything. Unfortunately, people like McCain and Coker want it to become adademic so as to avoid responsibility. posted 04/16/2008 at 14:44:43

Watch: Obama On Annie Oakley

I entered the presidential campaign season with an open mind -- I would vote for no one. I was not and am not enamored with Obama but the truth be told he has kept his words civil. But the hypocrisy and viciousness of the Clinton campaign has pushed me into the fight. The level of her pandering gives opportunism a bad name. First, her accusations that Obama took money from a developer while she and her husband have made over $100 million. I always criticized ex-Mexican presidents for stealing. However, they don't take it from fellow crooks. Second, in the Wright scandal even Hillary's pastor admonished her. Moreover, during Bill's own sex scandal he reached out to Rev. Wright. Third, Hillary is for children; evidently she forgets the large number of children from poor neighborhoods kill each other with guns. But she is a duck hunter! Alcoholism is a major problem in the Mexican American community; she belts them out with good old boys who rail against blacks and immigrants. However, Hillary is shocked that Obama has analyzed why blue collar Pennsylvanians vote against their class interests. Well, her husband hit in right on the nail when in 1991 he said it in 1991. People are angry and Republicans and Democrats alike have made them angry by blaming the "other." So reluctantly I will vote for Obama. I just can't stand hypocrisy. posted 04/14/2008 at 10:32:55

Clinton Becomes A Gun Lover

This is why I won't be voting for Hillary Clinton even if she runs against John McCain. Go to any poor neighborhood in the United States and see the victims of gun violence. Americans bleed for the bull in the ring but see nothing wrong with shooting a defenseless animal. Clinton panders to this element. posted 04/13/2008 at 00:33:29

It Takes Real Chutzpah for a Guy Who Owns Eight Houses (McCain) to Call Barack Obama an "Elitist"

Hypocrisy. Most of us have made remarks far beyond those made by Obama. It has always mystified me how poor unemployed blue colored workers can vote against their class interests by voting for Republicans. There has to be a reason why people will vote for people who take us to war and shift the burden of paying for it to them. Or who vote against giving working class people universal health coverage. For Clinton or any other American to claim that these people are the average American is racist. What they are saying is that the average is stupid and hates blacks, immigrants and homosexuals and to criticize them is elitist. Stupid America! posted 04/13/2008 at 00:47:40

Hillary And Bill: We Aren't Going Anywhere

It is Clinton's right to stay in or get out. It is not her right to smear or lie. First, the Church thing is getting out of line. I quit going to the Catholic Church because of slanderous remarks made about gays and liberal ideas. I felt they had no place in the Church. Second, patriotism is something we all define. One reason I was denied a job in the UC system was because many of the reviewers said I lied when I wrote in a book that the United States had invaded Mexico and unlawfully stole its land, commiting war atrocities. Moreover, the Alamo was fiction -- none of the Euro-Americans inside the mission had been born in Texas. Over the years I have been pressured to give loyalty oaths, wear flag pins and recite nonsensical pledges of allegiance. I look back and shake my head. During the 1920s the words of the pledge of allegiance was changeed from " I pledge allgiance to "my flag" to " I pladge of allegiance to the flag of the United States." The patriots wanted to weed out subversives.. My attitude is that I have nothing to explain to the patriots. Unlike them I went to the armed foces and have a mind.. posted 03/29/2008 at 09:58:26

The Face of Number 4,000 in Iraq

American media gives opportunism a bad name. Phrases such as we are against the war but support the troops go unchallenged -- probably because so many reporters never saw service. Just as history has judged Lyndon Johnson -- history will judge brain damaged reporters. They are doing very little to analyze the situation. Draw a timeline. Who caused the war? It is not finger pointing to expect people to take responsibility. Troops are getting killed because someone is to blame and that person should be impeached at the very least. Supporting your troops is an inane saying. I am a Korean veteran who owed nothing to other veterans. posted 03/29/2008 at 15:28:28

Clinton: Wright "Would Not Have Been My Pastor"

Clinton says you can't choose your family; however, it is also true that you do not pander to their chicanery and you should not betray yhe public trust by letting them use their influence to buy favors. But what it comes down to is that she is not part of the black community and does not have to learn about it. Her actions and those of husband Bill have disproved the myth that he was the nation's first black president. posted 03/25/2008 at 19:18:10
