Paul C. Merz, happily retired co-owner of Sandpiper Books (hence the HuffPost "screen name") in Long Beach, WA, is a veteran of more than 30 years as a professional journalist. A former investigative reporter for the Pittsburgh (PA) Post-Gazette and Sacramento (CA) Union, he later served as a multiple state and national award-winning editor of newspapers in New Mexico, Oregon, Wisconsin, California and Washington.
