What happened to the mermaid?
She's left on a quest, a quest to find out if there are still compassionate, empathetic, kindly, caring people in the world. She will search the seven seas for any sign of human kindness. She's left this place, because magical creatures are sensitive to negativity and the comments on Huffington Post have become an environment so vile, so consistantly negative, so clogged with filth and ugliness, that there is no healthy way for a mermaid to participate and retain her truly gentle, thoughtful, fair-minded nature. A mermaid takes it all in with her gills; swimming through filth slowly kills her.
This isn't "goodbye cruel world". It's "hello gentle, compassionate world". Perhaps I'll see you paddling around DKos from time-to-time. Wherever your travels take you, please be gentle to the creatures you find there.
