Clinton seeks gas tax vote, Obama calls it 'shell' game

They are all good proposals BUT ARE NOT MUTUALLY EXCLUSICE! unless they are being stated as distractions ! posted 05/03/2008 at 19:56:51

IMHO

The gas tax holiday way sound like peanuts to the upper middle class in relative terms, but to working Americans it makes a difference. In addition, gas prices has a ripple effect on all thing that we consume whether its food or clothing etc. In some part, even the psychological effect has a part in consumer behavior which in turn effects the economy. After all we are still a consumer economy " one may argue that we need to change this " but this is not the time when our economy is teetering. In addition this is not meant to be a long term solution, since no long term solution can be, and will be enacted in this lame duck period

Some may call it pandering " I think is practical. After no one oppose the tax rebates which were $600 " Is you break this down it"s about $50 a moth or $12.50 a year. I know the well off have been scoffing at this too but for the people that need it if will help offset the incremental increase in prices we are facing at the supermarket. Sure for the Starbucks crowd this may mean just coffee "
Again for those elite apposing this will they have they ready and willing to work with others with a pragmatic viewpoint? posted 05/03/2008 at 18:06:04

Defining Insanity

"The Bush campaign spent $70 million in April of 2004 to define John Kerry as a flip flopper, weak on defense, and weird. Those ads -- "Doublespeak", "Weapons", and "Wacky" -- played April 21, April 26 and May 30 respectively. They set the stage for the caricature that followed. "

so let's see how this will play out this fall:
Sen Obama for for Rev Wright before he was against him - Few weeks ago he was an like an uncle now he's a wacko
Honestly as voters we have a pretty go idea of McCain & Hillary but Obama is a ???? posted 05/01/2008 at 18:15:07

Obama's Pivot

Your right people change " So what has changed since his Philadelphia speech last month when he proclaimed that Rev Wright was like an uncle or he could not distance himself any more than the could distance himself from his white grandmother - The only difference is that this time around slick O"s ego was bruised in public

Yes we need to do something about gas prices. So why is Obama discounting the gas tax holiday the others are proposing for the summer " (He claims he"s a uniter !). No one is claiming this is a permanent solution and no one is claiming that that saving from filling a tank of gas will be a windfall " But certainly it will help contain cost " food and other goods and service prices have been escalating as the gas prices go up. It will help small business from hemorrhaging " (I guess the Starbuck crowd has deeper pockets and are not be hurting yet). We all realize this is a temporary measure " any relief is helpful till a longer term solution is put in place when the new government is installed posted 04/30/2008 at 15:42:37

America May Owe Reverend Wright a Debt of Gratitude

I glad Sen Obama denounced Rev. Wright, I wish it was done earlier. Sadly it was not done when America was attacked. It was only done when Sen. Obama was personally attacked and it seem to impact the poles. posted 04/30/2008 at 09:10:29

Sen. Obama clung to Rev. Wright at the start of the campaign so as to dispel doubts that he was a Christian. When Sen. Obama tried to distance himself for political reasons Rev. Wright was upset and felt that he had sold out to white America posted 04/29/2008 at 23:34:16

At the start of the campaign Obama appointed him spiritual leader for his campaign. That was poor judgment! I wonder what his advisors will be like as President posted 04/28/2008 at 19:42:06

At the start of the campaign Obama proclaimed Rev Wright as his spiritual advisor, mentor, close friend etc so to dispel any notion that he was a Muslim and to not let people be distracted by his middle name . It"s a shame that this very strategy came back to haunt him posted 04/28/2008 at 18:44:20

Excuse me they are all politicians " even though some may say that theirs is a new kind of politics. For example, say they did not hear Rev. Writes comments then saying that they spoke up against them. They do not take money from oil companies and lobbies when they have. Making disparaging remarks behind closed doors in San Fran billionaire group (to raise money) about middle class Americans ¦..
Face it they all bend the truth to suit them " we get in trouble when we sanctify politicians - we see that happening in a lot of countries around the world. posted 04/26/2008 at 15:22:52

Why is Clinton Pandering to the Right?

Before we dismiss Hillary comments as being hawkish we need to give it a second thought. I may not be such a bad ideas to have a Middle East NATO like alliance, this could be deterrent for middle eastern rouge states. As the economies in the Middle East boom it"s about time they pay for their security by their own treasury and soldiers. I think it is definitely worth looking into as a way to get lasting peace in the Middle East. posted 04/26/2008 at 14:32:34

Each of the candidates agreed that there is very little difference in their policies¦ So .. what"s left for the host to ask the candidates, except what we"re hearing in the media and tabloids to a nauseating extent. Therefore I felt it was a perfect opportunity for the candidates to deal with gaffs and move on.

In addition I sincerely felt this format was much more of a debate rather than the past debates where host glossed over questions with no time for rebuttals, which made it look like the host was pandering to the candidates. posted 04/19/2008 at 21:59:16

Who Can Beat McCain?

I agree that sometimes people make insensitive remarks - ( Sen. Obama cited his grandmother) however when they are made in a public forum by a public figure it widens the chasm between different groups and spawns hatred. In addition if our rationale is to overlook the repugnant because of the other good being done. then why do we condemn several radical Muslim dogmatic groups because they too are doing good thing for their communities? posted 04/06/2008 at 16:05:35
I admire loyalty in a person" but blind loyalty is another thing that raises my antenna! Sen. Obama"s support for Rev. Wright is borders on the case of "blind loyalty". When you don"t call a spade a spade to old relationship, then one need to be a little concern. Because there are a lot of people that have supported Sen. Obama politically to get him to where he is in this stage of the game. I"m sure they would expect the same type of loyalty from President Obama in return for their support. The point is " which comes up for me is " will he have the courage to not be influenced by his close political backers and do the right thing or will it be the blind loyalty we have in the current white house. posted 04/06/2008 at 14:45:50

Healthcare

I"m not sure why Sen. Obama is not going for a sweeping change in health care " since I strongly believe that the dems will win big in the senate and house.
