I am a Web Developer with over 28 years of computer experience. My first experience with a personal computer was in 1979 when I was the Business Manager of a college tavern and cafe at Rutgers University in New Jersey. The new Apple IIe was used to perform all of the accounting functions including payroll.
In 1985, I became Comptroller of a non-profit, social services agency and the IBM XT computer was the machine of choice. In my five years there, I automated the manual bookkeeping system to a fully computerized, multi-user system (with three workstations) running under the Xenix (Unix) operating system.
Next, I spent seven years with the fourth largest insurance company in the world as a mainframe programmer. There I learned Assembler, Cobol, PL1, JCL, and MVS.
In 2002, I attended school part time and developed skills in web development such as HTML, Java and Object Orient Programming (OOP). I received the Executive Director's Award upon graduation.
In 2003, I served as an E-Commerce Specialist for a large medical supply corporation performing exploratory research and creating intranet web sites for new products. This required extensive knowledge of HTML, Javascript, Flash and Graphic Design.
Since 2004, I have been employed by a major telecommunications company as a Web Applications Analyst. The specialized skills involved in this position include HTML, XML, ASP, .NET, Visual Basic, Javascript, VBscript, SQL, Excel, Oracle, Access, ADO and more.
In my spare time (what spare time?), I run a web site design firm, http://www.jme1.com, build computers with my son, enjoy fine dining with my wife, and go to the movies.
