Lived a rich and varied life, visited over 150 countries, lived in a few, had some extraordinary experiences along the way and somehow managed to survive so far. Have worked for Reuters as a political research analyst, Merrill Lynch and Cantor Fitzgerald as an investment banker, specializing in the energy industry and emerging markets, and then changed careers again and now run my own I.T. consulting services business. In between all this, I'm also a published author (about 20 people actually bought my novel) and have been a stand-up comedian and DJ. Figure there is still one more career change, but many more adventures, still ahead.
Politically, I started life as a libertarian conservative but gradually became more liberal as I got older. Now I'm a proud and loud, card-carrying lib (even though we don't get cards yet) and dedicate much of my time and energy to making sure the GOP is completely marginalized, working for a variety of progressive causes.
Why did I become a liberal? I saw the world, learned how much it has to offer, and realized that the unhappiest societies in the world were those driven by unfettered capitalism, whereas those that had learned to achieve a balance between material and spiritual wealth, and which were unconcerned with ideological purity, were by far the happiest and most stable.
Anyway, feel free to ask anything. I won't bite unless you ask really nicely, and then I start charging by the hour :=)
