Im a black woman and I don"t get it. Imus makes a derogatory comment and everybody gets all up in arms. But FoxNews, Pat Buchanan, and Bill O"Reilly spew racial insults all day long and no one says a word! Rarely is there even a slap on the wrist. Whats that all about? Quiet as its kept, there was and still is the "One-Drop Rule," which for those of you who don"t know, states if you have one drop of black blood in you, YOU ARE BLACK. It didnt matter how or who you grew up with or how far down the line that drop occurred, you were still black.

Sweetie, please get a better argument because this one is whack! There is nothing wrong with the races (all races) celebrating their own. BET is a business and was initially created because Blacks couldnt get fair representation on the your "White Entertainment Television (ie., CBS, NBC, ABC). When created, we were not in the Miss America pageants, and regardless of our abilities whites rarely recogniZed our abilities or achievements. And that, too, goes for all the other minorities. Just because we have our own does not make us racist. We have black history month because our history in this country was left out of the history taught in schools. Basically, as with other minorities, blacks had to initiate their own forums in order to be recognized for all the wonderful achievements that had gone unrecognized in mainstream America. RBinFl, get real. Wake up. Reverse racism? Do you actually live in this country? I dont hate anyone. But I have and do recognize and experience the inequities of our society.

At least recognize there is still work to be done. And it begins with dialog. We live in a country that sees a bi-racial man with a black father and white mother as black. Not white. BLACK! African Americans suffered the worst autrocity in the history of this country, yes even worst than the Native American, and if we even attempt to discuss it we are called racists? We are the only race in this nation who's right to vote has to be reviewed every 30 years. And the reality of the situation is blacks are still being stopped by police more than any other race, being shot by police, arrested and jailed more than any other. Our schools are inferior to those of whites. But still, African Americans love this country and are a very forgiving people. Stop believing the 10 second snippets taken completely out of context and discover the actual events for yourself.
