Military Chief: US Doesn't Have Enough Troops To Send To Afghanistan

Talking the truth to Bush & Co is not what gets you promoted or retained. Please observe the service record of the general - uh, excuse me, the civilian and former general - who investigated the Abu Ghraib mess. You are probably right. posted 07/03/2008 at 11:33:10

Russia's 'Cosmic Impact' A Mystery 100 Years On

Very likely a stony asteroid. Models seem to show a stony meteor would explode in the atmosphere, leaving little residue behind, hence no fragments to be found. Also, the explosion seemed to come from above. I would think a discharge of methane would cause an all-around explosion.

The explosion left several very curious depressions. These are found only in one other place on earth, the eastern United States, with it's center near Bladenboro, NC. Some of these depressions (called Carolina bays or pocosins) are miles across. If you would like to view some (there are over two million of them!) go to Google Earth or your favorite satellite mapping program, type in Bladenboro, NC, and look around, especially north and west of town. posted 06/29/2008 at 16:07:41

General Who Probed Abu Ghraib: Bush Officials Committed 'War Crimes'

Can you say "Keating Five"? I knew you could! posted 06/19/2008 at 09:54:55
I wonder just how Bush defines war crimes - if they do it, it's a war crime. If we do it, it's the badly misnamed "war on terror", legal, ethical and moral. Guiliani thinks bin Laden will be given rights no American receives, if and when he's caught. The Republican party craps in their pants over human rights. Apparently, human rights only apply to rich Americans, the rest of us are left out in the cold.

Bush is so worried about terrorists getting nuclear weapons he has threatened war against Iran. Meanwhile, his government has been astoundingly lax about our own nuclear weapons security. Shipping parts to Taiwan, flying nukes around the country when no one knows they are aboard, and NOW the Financial Times is reporting that sensitive parts for nukes are missing. What a wonderful record Bush has on national security - not!

Read about missing nuke parts:

CONFIRMED: U.S. Hid Detainees From The Red Cross

Say again? Are you supporting Bush's crimes? And what war are you talking about? I didn't know we were at war.

Chasing terrorism is a job for the courts and the police, not the military. Wars are fought between nations. It would take a true doofus like Bush to declare "war" on terrorists. And the behavior of nations during wartime is controlled by the Geneva Conventions and other international law. We are lawless, and criminal in our pursuit of this hokey "war". posted 06/18/2008 at 09:01:07

John McCain: The Second Coming of Bob Dole

Their best candidate? It would have to be someone they are keeping under wraps, or a potential rising star. McCain probably IS the best the Republicans can do this year. Can you name anyone else who would have any chance at all this year? posted 06/17/2008 at 08:01:13

Supreme Court Rules Guantanamo Detainees Have Constitutional Right To Challenge Detention

Are you sure they are all terrorists? It isn't your decision whether they are or not, nor is it Bush's. The courts AND ONLY THE COURTS decide who is guilty and who is not. Not you. Not Bush. Not me.

Terrorists do not get military trials because they do not represent a government. They are criminals and belong ONLY in criminal courts, not military.

For years, the accumulated wisdom of all the Western world was - and still is, everywhere but the United States - is that terrorists are treated as criminals only, never as warriors. DON'T LEGITIMIZE THEIR INSANITY!!!!!!!!

And then here comes the Incompetent-in-Chief, Geo. W. Bush, who threw all of the West's accumulated wisdom out the door, and frankly, has screwed up royally. Well, we now reap what Bush sewed, and the terrorists are legitimate warriors, and they get put in POW camps and face military tribunals - if they are lucky. The rest just sit there, against all our laws, against all our traditions, against our Constitution, and against all common sense. And why? Because cowards such as yourself are actually AFRAID of these people? Why are you so afraid? Can't you just stand shoulder to shoulder with the rest of us, and defeat them? WHY ARE YOU SO AFRAID???? posted 06/12/2008 at 17:56:03

Actually, redneck appears to have originated as a word in Fayetteville, NC, in the 1830s, and was originally applied to Presbyterians. Or so it is claimed.
