I've been a life-long moderate Democrat (yearning to be an independent). Master's Degree from F.I.T. in Melbourne FL. Actually attended (another college) with Craig Crawford (many years ago), who is a regular on MSNBC's Morning Joe as well as many other newscasts.
Don't tell anyone, but Craig actually used to take his 4' plant Clarence for walks down the dorm sidewalk with a leash. He ran for public office a few years ago...I hope he tries again. I'll vote for him.

It is my hope that blog sites are a launching pad for more than just joust and diatribe. It is my hope that we can dispose of the purposeful chaos wrought on us by professional politicians (and those who buy them). We lose traction on important issues when we're ensnared in their "traps" ...these polarizing "end-runs". Gun control, abortion, religion, creationism, evolution...these issues detract from REAL ISSUES when we're talking NATIONAL governance; education, health care, green energy, immigration, crime, and the nation's crumbling middle class and infrastructure.

It is my hope that we can effect change through our constructive discourse...and at the end of the day TAKE ACTION after the discussing's done.

6 Other Things that Aren't "Change We Can Believe In"

Good response Cindy.
What many of the conservatives don't get apparently, is that if in fact Obama reaches out to antidemocratic regimes and tries to establish lines of communications with them, our allies (and potential allies) would be more apt to support us in our benevolence and also in our missions should we have to act militarily. McCain is looking more an more like he has big corporate america's hand up his ass making his mouth move. If McCain wants to emulate a Bush, he should listen to Bush 41, who lamented in his book on the shortcomings of invading Iraq.

Sergio Vieira De Mello, the late UN diplomat, was the poster child for trying to solve global issues by opening up lines of communication with reclusive, oppressive regimes. He understood that might only makes right when all other options drop off the table. We had Saddam totally isolated by the time we went in. There were many options still on the table. For McCain to legitimize this war is unconscionable. posted 06/07/2008 at 09:43:39

The Future of the Middle East

-- "If we refuse to accept the walls that others would create, imagine what we can achieve. What new thinkers will emerge? What new art and inventions? What new breakthroughs will enlighten our understanding?" --
It takes a pretty decent guy (or king), who otherwise has it all...to offer up his dreams of "hope", rather than, as others in seats of power do, offer up nothing more than egotisitical banter, or extremism, or control.
King Abdullah, if you happen along and read these posts....my hat's off to you sir. posted 06/04/2008 at 21:31:00

My Dual Citizenship: Why Did the Media Get It So Wrong?

Martina,
I liked you better when I thought you WERE doing it because of the Bush Administration.
Someday, when we're all old and gone...there will be no such thing as borders. As it has been said many times, the finest fences/borders are built with "understanding"...not control...as we have now.

Loved watching you play. posted 03/30/2008 at 21:30:17
