I find the constant dunning to link my profile here to Twitter or Facebook extremely annoying. I want to opt out - without creating a dummy Facebook or Twitter login.

I should have "eschewed" this feature - especially the part where I was invited to update my photo. I uploaded a "simpsonize me" version of my photo, but now I can't restore my photo.

I also find that this site looses about one in ten of my replys - my profile shows that I've replied to an article, but my reply has vanished. I don't know whether it's Bugs in the Software or an aggressive editorialism, but it's pretty capricious either way.

Recently (May 4, '09) re-hired IT jockey .. formerly an unemployed Unix/Linux/*BSD software engineer. Divorced parent. Avid reader. Occasional gardener. Erratic photographer.

Son of the Middle Coast (Son of Sand - Lake Michigan beaches on the eastern shore of Lake Michigan are remarkable.)

Have Mallet, Glue, and Clamps. Will Fix Furniture. (Live in the Ann Arbor area? Got kids who tip the dinning room chairs and wobble about? I can fix your chairs and save you the expense of a new dinning room set or a guest falling to the floor in a crash.)

Have C, Perl, /bin/sh, awk, gawk, m4, emacs, GNU Make, and BSD Make. Will Code. Experience in Plus, GOM, FORTRAN IV, PL/1, PL/C, Pascal (VS, JB, Borland), IBM 370 Assembler, Z80 assembler - but who uses those anymore? I've explored Forth, Java, Javascript, Ruby, Python, C++, Objective C, Ada, Haskell, LISP, and Latin (classical and medival.)

Suffering from Ballistic-commatitis. I will, spew commas, everywhere, not necessarily in grammatically correct places.

but I'm still fond of it, even though it's long since shut down. I was part of PROJECT=W? (i.e.: staff) and enjoyed exploring all kinds of facets of a unique computing environment. I was young and innocent of MS-Windows and Unix then.

Twitter? Facebook? - Yeah, I'm there and I'm not impressed. It's all been done before (Confer ][ by Bob Parnes - "RESPOND, FORGET, OR PASS?") and will be done again.
