Valerie is a Root-Tilden-Kern Public Interest Scholar and an Institute for International Law and Justice Scholar at NYU School of Law. From 2006-2008 she served in the Peace Corps in Panama where she worked with a microfinance cooperative and Peace Corps' Gender and Development committee (GAD). From 2008-2009 she was a Fulbright Scholar in Spain where she taught in a bilingual public school and researched refugee rights. Valerie is currently on the board of NYU's chapter of the Iraqi Refugee Assistance Project (IRAP).
