I'm Valerie Plame Wilson and I'm excited to be here and blog about my
book
Fair Game: My Life as a Spy, My Betrayal by the White House,
which goes on sale Monday, Oct 22. When my publisher sent me the
finished copy earlier this week, it was thrilling. It felt like a new
chapter (forgive the pun) has begun on the journey that has taken some
incredible twists and turns since July 14, 2003, when my covert
identity was exposed and ended a career that I loved. I've written
honestly about my life: why I went to work for the CIA, my
paramilitary training, the sort of operations we developed and ran to
find intelligence on Iraq's alleged WMD programs in the run up to the
war, as well as personal information, such as my battle with
postpartum depression and the difficulties I had going from a private
to a public persona literally overnight. My publisher, Simon and
Schuster, decided to print the blacked out redactions demanded by the
CIA and hopefully those passages (or lack thereof) speak for
themselves and the extent to which the CIA thought the material in the
book was classified.
Watching myself on 60 Minutes was surreal -- who can ever get
used to seeing themselves on TV? I guess the book tour has really
started and it will be a crazy week ahead. After four and a half years
and everyone else in world talking about me, it feels good to finally
be able to tell my story myself. It's a story about the consequences
of speaking truth to power and the critical importance of holding our
government to account for its words and deeds. I'm off to bed,
because I have an early wakeup call tomorrow to do the Today Show. I
look forward to sharing my reactions and stories with you from the
road over the next few days. I will be posting throughout the week and
appreciate your comments and support.

Valerie you're a beautiful woman with amazing green eyes.. and beauty with intelligence is something I admire (as a fellow gorgeous intelligent woman). I enjoyed your interview and I love the fact that you and your husband have the backbone, the integrity, to stand up for what is right. I cannot imagine the toll it has taken on your personal family life.

Stand strong. Many of us have been following this story from the beginning and blogging on it from the beginning.
I taped the interview and would love to upload it to youtube but afraid I'll get smacked down for copyright infringement from CBS!
You go girl!

Well I'm happy to be post number 522
congratulations you have many many friends
my wife and I among them.
Valerie,
I was impressed with the grace and dignity you exhibited during the 60 Minutes interview. Looking forward to what else you have to tell us as you blog this week. I hope the American public pays attention to your cautionary tale.
THANK YOU Mrs. Wilson, for going public, for the courage and patriotism you have displayed. God willing, one day this regime will be tried for their crimes against humanity, and for their treason against you.

You are one of MY HEROS too! And you did a superb job with your congressional testimony, we were watching!
I wish you a wonderful and peaceful life in Santa Fe. I live close to there and it holds a beautiful and calming energy.
Please know that you have so many admirers who recognize you as one of the true patriots today. The only way any of us could ever express the gratitude for your courage and patriotism that we feel would be to one day vote for you.

Thank you both Mr and Mrs. Wilson. I think you you were serving your country with integrity, and suffered a hit and run. You became swooped up dragged through the slime by the GOP. Thanks for your service.
Mrs. Plame-Wilson
Thank you for your service to our country.
On behalf of myself and, as you by now know many others as well, I would like to apologize for the treatment you received from this disgusting administration.
To those that think that BushCo didn't have a hand in outing you, just consider what happened to the Frost child when he spoke out against the veto of the SCHIP program.
Our Idiot-In-Chief and his cronies in the far right press just couldn't wait to spew out lies about this poor defenseless child.
I am truly glad that YOU are in a position to hold these slime balls to at least some measure of account for their dastardly actions.
BushCo thinks that he can avoid criticism by refusing to turn over people and documents for scrutiny.
He's wrong and any sane person knows it. Look at the things that are still coming out from in under rocks placed there by Nixon.
I know that this won't rectify what was done to you, but at least you will have the eventual satisfaction of knowing that the future will vindicate you...and not Bush.
Once again thank you and I hope you are proud of the way Ambassador Wilson has supported you. I've been impressed with both of you for some time.
Mazel Tov!
Ditto in triplicate.
This is completely off-topic - and I'm sure none of the men here noticed, but - aren't you proud that Valerie Plame's so hot? We've got CIA agents who look like that?!! Is this a great country or what? (Btw: I'm a straight woman.)
I agree! Too bad Cheney's evil, vile ways, had to ruin her. All for oil and Halliburto n...What a waste of lives and lies.
Note to Heyman;
Cheney, Negroponte, Libby and Novak, at the behest of Bush Junior obviously, didn't ruin Ms. Plame. They ruined her career, and in doing so endangered her life and the lives of those she worked with for decades.
Gramma Rose
ROFLMAO!!! That's Rich! Great tongue-in-cheek remark. She is both bright AND beautiful. Are those the reasons, plus the obvious fact she's a woman - why the RepublicaN'ts don't like Her?
Just wondering (Btw: I'm a straight man - can you tell :)
I agree but she is hot and too smart to be interested in me.
Note to Miss Terry; hat can I say except that no one with an IQ over eleven gives a rat's arse. Hot ? Good gravy, grow up!
Aren't you kind of off message, as well as way out of touch? A whole lot of us thought the days of a woman's worth being judged by her appearance were long gone. Seems like some of our gender still haven't gotten the memo. Your message implies that Ms. Plame's value to our world would be diminished if she looked like a troglodyte. As far as your comments that none of the men noticed et cetera...w
Gramma Rose
Dear Gramma, who said anything about judging her "worth" based on her appearance? I think it's extremely cool that we've got spies who look like her. If we had spies that looked like Brat Pitt, I'd have written the same thing. I saw Pres. Kennedy in footage a while ago and I wondered how it felt to be an American when we had a president who was smart, witty, athleteic and - oh, yes - handsome. A different world. And when people who look like Valerie Plame decide to serve their country with honor and dignity rather than just becoming a VP of Finance or something, I think that's a really cool thing. Anyway, back off. I'll match my feminist bona fides against yours any day of the week, Gram.
I look forward to the day when these murderous criminals in this neocon administration receive their just rewards. If our own political and judicial institutions prove to be unwilling to or incapable of pursuing this issue I would like to see the international community take this to the International Court of justice at The Hague. Justice demands this!
a whiff of fresh air in the stale stench of lies that is the bush administration. are we a nation of laws? do we have one set of standards that applies to one and all? hell, no. which is why every attempt to hold to account those who demean our system -- in its name! -- is essential to any hint of freedom left in this american enterprise.
When the nightmare of two Bush/Cheney Administrations finally ends in January 2009, there should be not one, but two new beginnings.
First and foremost, our new President,VP and Administration should immediately start digging us out of the Augean mess left by eight years of criminal and lawless government.
But just as importantly, simultaneously these two criminals and their many henchmen must be indicted the very same day they leave office, on charges of treason and crimes against humanity, to name just two.
Only when these two end up behind bars can the U.S. redeem itself both domestically as well as internationally, and begin moving towards regaining its position of world leadership and respect.
I agree with you about the need for indictments of these criminals. I have a feeling that the moment Bush and Cheney are out of office we'll see them and their families off to Paraguay where Jeanna Bush recently purchased a huge amount of land. Paraguay was a favorite destination of the Nazis. The Paraguay government does not have extradition treaties.
I'm thinking that on Inauguration Day, with Bush & Cheney at the back of the podium, the new President should turn around, proclaim them both Illegal Enemy Combatants, and let them claw themselves out of that designation with whatever tools they've left us...Habeu s Corpus?... nope, please try again...
Valerie:
Welcome to the blogosphere.
What happened to you was evil. Whether anyone thought you were "under cover" or not, it was awful that you were unable to go on doing your job.
I would have suggested that Valerie Plame have published her book from out of the country, then maybe she could have included those numerous pages, that were blacked out by the government.
American's should have the right to publish the truth here. The redactions prove that she was covert.
What a great cover, too: beautiful blond ambassador's wife smart enough to be a spy. Until Darth Cheney put out her name.
What is going to happen when a democratic president (Hillary?) does the same things Bush is doing now?
The redactions do not prove that she was covert, but are strongly indicative.
The fact that General Hayden says she was covert is enough for me.
That plus the fact that she swore an oath and testified that she was covert.
Not one. Not one person with actual knowledge of events has every sworn an oath and contradicted her.
Note to jcheadsup;
Google Livityenko. Think the goons currently in the White House wouldn't?
Think again.
Nah, she signed an agreement that made it mandatory to submit any manuscript to the CIA for their approval. Imagine someone in this era who has the integrity to play by the rules, even when she is harassed by this outlaw, rogue administration. In terms of morality, guess who looks like a monster. For sure, it is not Mrs. Wilson!!!!
That and she doesn't want to go to prison.
Valerie, thank you for getting the word out about the lawless Bush regime. This is just one
more nail in the coffin of these folks. They will receive their just desserts come 2008
when they will be ousted from their perches of power.
Watched the whole interview. They didn't mention Armitage ONCE.
I watched it too and yes, they did....sho wed his pic; Libby, Cheney, and Novack too.
Showed his picture. The DID NOT mention him by name.
I forgot Armitage. Thanks for reminding me.
I would love to see the Wilson's sell their story rights to have it made into a movie, book and more. This administration has screwed them over so much, and ruined their lives and financial future.
Show the world that facts behind this disaster and the actions of this evil administration. It cant undo whats been done to you ,the American citizens, and the world just how ruthless and evil Bush, Cheney and the rest of those currently in charge are.
It would be titled: Most boring movie ever made.
Your life story of shilling for traitors would beat it, hands down.
Wilson stared down Saddam. Tell us about your greatest accomplishment in life.
I just wanted to let you know that when you appeared before Congress earlier this year you were superb. Not only did you look stunningly beautiful but your delivery was picture perfect. There is no doubt that on that specific day you made them all look like a bunch of inept bumbling idiots - Congress, Bush, Cheney, Novak and the rest. Did I mention you looked gorgeous?
Courage and patriotism. You have lots of support Valerie. Keep doing what you are doing.
Thank you
She has support from some conservatives as well. I was directed to a commentary written back in March, from a conservative. I highly suggest everyone read it, the author really went after what was important.

Indeed. What is missing is another description of the incident. Intimidation, and retribution by the Bush administra tion..that should have sent Cheney and Armitage, and Libby and the President to prison.
Health, wealth and happiness to the Wilson's.
Ya know...sin ce you've been outed and can't be covert, the next president should make you head of the CIA!
Wouldn't that be perfect justice?
