Campaign Journal: Baracking the Vote for God

Veola Carter is an OffTheBus grassroots correspondent. Each week she contributes a campaign journal documenting her life out on the trail.

With the omega episode of this nation's first 'unprecedented' Presidential election--"Barack the vote" Obamacitis has reached pandemic proportions. While I struggled to conjure up, my next to the last, spark of physical and mental energy--in an effort to hit (my version) of the 'campaign trail'--I was undeterred by any subliminal thoughts, feelings or McCain/Palin delusions of a possible Obama defeat.

On Saturday--As a mega-driven "Grassroots" Correspondent for the Huffington Post--I managed to knock on doors, ring doorbells and stop people on the streets, of several towns and cities, within, a 50 mile radius of my home. My 'search and seizure' (for and of) undecided voters, independent voters, former Hilary supporters and willing volunteers, paid-off.

On Sunday--The first Sunday of the month service was, eventually, taken from the "How Great Thou Art" hymn to--the Book of Isaiah. The church clerk instructed the entire congregation, to read a specific chapter and verse from the Book of Isaiah in the Bible. After reading the normal 'boring, sleep inducing' church annoucements--Her concentration shifted and focused on the election, in particular, Barack Obama. "Barack the vote on Tuesday, that's what we're going to do! Right? Barack the vote! We ALL need to read Isaiah, over the next couple of days. We have to KEEP GOD in this election! No weapon formed against us, shall prosper," the church clerk repeated.

On Sunday evening--With an extra hour to sleep and work--We are privileged to have 60 more minutes of negative McCain ads, 60 more minutes of non-stop channel to channel political jargon, speculations and indecisiveness. Oh, and let us not overlook--another hour of the psychological torture and anxiety of Black Americans, the unexpected deaths of would-be voters dying while standing in (mile long) lines waiting to vote early. The further spreading and acute disposition of this, never-before-seen, political disease--is in itself a medically historical precedent. De facto--My physiological, neurological and psychological body functions are in total agreement about one thing--They can not wait, for the rising of dawn on Wednesday Nov. 5, 2008!
