The national media reports about voter registration trickery, that's been saturating the airwaves, newspapers and numerous periodicals---is just beginning to scratch the surface. There is much more of it occuring, than we know of. Last week, my husband and I received our updated voter registration cards in the mail. It was necessary for us to change our home address. We moved three years ago, to another voting district.
Early the next morning (while doing my early morning cleaning)--- I decided to open the mail. After reading the information, that was printed on our voter registration cards---I was left in "awe!" My husband's card indicated that his sex is 'female' and his race was completely wrong. My husband's name is very masculine, so (on paper) there should never be a question about, whether or not, he's male or female. My card was not quite as screwed-up. At least, they had my sex correct.
Later that same morning (after the county voter registration office opened)---I began the task of calling them. It took me five hours to, finally, get through to a 'live' person. The conversation with the lady on the end of the other end of the line, almost, became a joking matter. She could not understand, how such a thing could happen twice. She instructed me to return the new cards, with a note attached explaining the incorrect information. She also said, until recently, they were allowed to just update the information by phone---That procedure had been eliminated (u-u-m-m-m?). I asked her, what were the odds that we would receive the updated cards before November 4th. She replied, by telling me that there was a slim chance--- that we may not receive them before the election. I, immediately, drilled her about the options that we would have on election day. She remained silent, for a couple of seconds and then began to tell me...."You can use your driver's license or another government or state issued photo ID." I took this conversation a leap further. I inquired about the reliability of the data in 'their' computer system. She agreed with me. She began to search for mine and my husband's registration information, in their computer system. Low and behold, you will never guess what she found! After providing her with my SS#----She started to read the information about me, in their records. According to their records----I AM NOT REGISTERED TO VOTE IN THIS STATE! I am listed in their records, but I am considered "INACTIVE." My mailing address was incorrect, my sex was correct and my race was wrong. I could feel my systolic and diastolic blood pressure readings flying over the 'brain attack' (stroke) theshhold. What the hell? After regaining my mental composure---I suggested, that she check my husband's record. She discovered that he is considered "ACTIVE," but his race and address were both incorrect. This lady could not figure out----how we received the new voter registration cards, at our new address. She was so perplexed about the situation, until, she told me---- that she would need to speak with her supervisor (who was out to lunch) when she returned. She promised to call me back, after speaking with her supervisor, either, later that day or early Monday morning. Well, it's now Wednesday (2 days later) and I have not heard a word from her. Oh shigity! Is this more of their election trickery--- What do you think?
