Group Rallies To Restore Weekend Voting Hours In Ohio

Posted: Updated:

Ohio has enjoyed early in-person voting since 2008, which allowed tens of thousands to vote before election day in order to avoid the long lines or polling problems which arose in 2004. In 2012, Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted received a national rebuke when he halted weekend voting hours in Democratic counties while keeping extended voting hours in Republican counties. In response, Husted halted weekend voting hours across the state, claiming this was fair for everyone to have the same hours, despite it being well known that there are many working people who can only make it on weekends. Video the Vote is helping Color of Change's campaign to tell Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted to restore weekend voting hours, by signing the petition at colorofchange.org and texting "OHIO" to 225568.
