A former communications aide to Congressman Ed Markey (D-MA) and DC Mayor Adrian Fenty (D) he has worked on communications strategies for campaigns, federal agencies and trade associations, including the State Department, the White House Initiative on Asian Americans & Pacific Islanders and the National Education Association. Currently, he crafts messages for the President's Secretary & Under Secretary of Commerce for IP, where he frames the Administration's innovation and trade strategies.

Aiyer attended the University of California, Berkeley and did his graduate work at the George Washington University’s School of Political Management. He lives in Washington, DC.
