Vin Cipolla is recognized for his business and civic entrepreneurship,having achieved parallel successes in the private and public sectors. Hehas served on more than twenty nonprofit boards and nine corporateboards. A six-time corporate CEO, he has founded three successfulcompanies in the media, marketing and technology fields, developingand overseeing global operations: Cipolla Group (sold 1991), Pamet,Inc. (sold 1999), and HNW (1999–the present).Devoted to preservation, conservation and the arts, Mr. Cipolla hasconsistently provided civic leadership in these areas throughout his adult life. He was appointedPresident of the Municipal Art Society of New York (MAS) in early 2009. MAS is a leading urbanplanning, design and preservation advocacy organization founded in 1893. In the short time in which he has led MAS, Mr. Cipolla is credited with revitalizing the organization by broadening itsaudiences and supporters and repositioning the organization as a thought-leader on the subjects ofurban livability and sustainability. From 2005 through 2009, he was President and CEO of theNational Park Foundation and continues to serve on the foundation’s board as its Vice Chairman.Twelve years earlier, Mr. Cipolla was Executive Vice President and Publisher of the National Trustfor Historic Preservation, the country’s largest historic preservation organization.Prior to his appointment with the National Park Foundation in 2005, Mr. Cipolla was in businessserving as President and CEO of Fidelity Investments’ global workforce management company, and served on two Fidelity boards, Fidelity Charitable Services, Inc. and Veritude LLC, as well asserving as Board Chairman of HNW.Also among his many charitable efforts, he was Board Chairman of the Institute of ContemporaryArt, Boston for nine years, spearheading the development of the museum's stunning new buildingon Boston Harbor. He served on the ICA board for a total of fifteen years before becomingChairman Emeritus. Past trustee appointments have included Clark University, the AmericanRepertory Theater at Harvard University, the Orton Foundation, and the Electronic FrontierFoundation, where he was Vice Chairman. In addition to the National Park Foundation and theMunicipal Art Society, he currently serves on the nonprofit boards of the National Parks of NewYork Harbor Conservancy, Governors Island Alliance and Ballet Hispanico, as well as corporateboards.Mr. Cipolla is a Phi Beta Kappa, magna cum laude graduate of Clark University and an honorary Beta Gamma Sigma inductee of its Graduate Business School, where he also gave thecommencement address for the MBA Honors class of 2000. He has frequently appeared on nationaltelevision over the years discussing the subjects of conservation, national parks, wealth andphilanthropy, and has addressed a range of audiences, from the World Business Forum toCongress. In three separate years he was the featured speaker introducing the President of theUnited States at the lighting of the National Christmas Tree during its global telecast.He is married to artist Celine McDonald, and they have four daughte rs.
