With the fight to keep L.A. street art alive, Urban Legends comes to town to remind us all how important it is to have public spaces to create dialogue through various art forms. The public art auction and exhibition is being presented by the Estria Foundation, L.A. Art Machine, and Do Art Foundation in partnership with SPARC (Social and Public Art Resource Center) and MCLA and features artists from the U.S., Mexico, Europe, and Africa. Artists like O.G. cholo style graffiti artist, Chaz Bojorquez (pictured above), will be representing L.A., along with SPARC founder and artist/activist Judy Baca, street snapper Estevan Oriol and RETNA.
All proceeds from the opening exhibition will benefit organizations and artists dedicated to the urban art movement, which is crucial right now given the landscape of cuts to art program funding and readily available walls, tunnels, concrete river beds and buildings.
