Why I'm Going Back to My Synagogue After 25 Years Away

I'm going back to my synagogue this month, nearly 25 years after I thought I'd left for good.

I grew up in Silver Spring, Md., the youngest of three children. We kept a kosher home and observed the Jewish holidays, but synagogue remained the focus of our religious upbringing....
