We've just launched a new community powered section called HuffIt. HuffIt lets readers decide what news should get the most attention on the Huffington Post. You can submit and select news from anywhere in the world and then "huff" the stories you like best. The most huffed news stories will appear on our front page.
We invited our Daily Brief subscribers and other select groups to test the site for the past few weeks. You can already see their most voted for headlines in the right hand column of the home page and now is your chance to join the HuffIt community.
As soon as you register, you can start:
* Reading the most interesting stories found by the Huff Post community.
* Voting for stories you think should be on the Huffington Post
* Saving and sharing your favorite news stories on your own personal page on the Huffington Post site
When you see a news story you like, just press the "Huff It" button to vote, share and save--all with 1 click. It may take a few minutes to get the full scope of the site but you will be huffing like a pro before you know it.
You can join HuffIt here: http://huffit.huffingtonpost.com/
Meet a few of our most active Huffers:
Dona Ridgeway: http://huffit.huffingtonpost.com/huffer/mommadona
Arianna Huffington: http://huffit.huffingtonpost.com/huffer/ariannahuffington
Alexander Chee: http://huffit.huffingtonpost.com/huffer/fictioneer
Percetta Speight-Marrs: http://huffit.huffingtonpost.com/huffer/Snow%20Wolf
and these are my huffs: http://huffit.huffingtonpost.com/huffer/wendyc
I'm the new Community Manager at the Huff Post so feel free to email me with any questions or suggestions. HuffIt is still in beta and as new features are being rolled out, I would love to hear your thoughts on how we can improve the site.
p.s. For those of you familiar with Digg, del.icio.us and reBlog, we were inspired by these sites and we are excited to bring similar tools to the Huffington Post community. Enjoy!
