Ski Accident Leaves Natasha Richardson Brain Dead?

Members of Actress Natasha Richardson's family were seen gathering at a New York hospital believed to be treating the Tony-winning actress for a reportedly serious head injury sustained on a Canadian ski slope. A reporter from the Toronto Star earlier reported seeing a distraught Neeson crouched inside the back of an ambulance at Montreal's Sacre-Coeur hospital as Richardson, wrapped in blankets and with tubes covering her face, was loaded inside. Neeson had immediately left the Toronto set of his upcoming movie, "Chloe," to be by her side in Montreal, a publicist for the film said. 3

Richardson, critically injured in a skiing accident, was on a flight to the United States, Britain's Press Association news agency said Tuesday, quoting Sacre-Coeur Hospital. "According to the family's press agent, the lady has left Canada around 12:30 today," said Michelle Simard of the Sacre-Coeur hospital in a recorded message. 2

Richardson was skiing on Monday at the Mont Tremblant resort, about 75 miles north of Montreal, when she fell during a skiing lesson. 4

According to reports, she'd suffered a minor fall during a private lesson with a ski instructor -- no visible signs of injury or immediate problems. 5
