Industry Moves: Former Yahoo Music GM Goldberg to Lead SurveyMonkey

Former Yahoo Music boss Dave Goldberg has a new job: He's joining SurveyMonkey, an online survey service, as CEO, AllThingsD's Kara Swisher reports. Goldberg joins the company in the middle of a deal: Spectrum Equity Investors and other investors, including Bain Capital, are buying a majority interest in the company, which is reportedly profitable. Goldberg -- who is also investing in the company -- will open a Silicon Valley office and recruit "several dozen" new employees, Swisher reports. In ten years, SurveyMonkey has signed up 2 million users, who have created 6 million surveys, which have been filled out 200 million times 3

Goldberg (pictured here) will head the Portland-based private company, which is an online survey creator, including offering analytics of the results. A Federal Trade Commission site on Friday noted that Spectrum had gotten antitrust approval for a transaction, but did not name Goldberg or SurveyMonkey. Previous to that, Goldberg was director of marketing strategy and new business development at Capitol Records in Los Angeles. 1

Goldberg will also hold a minority interest in the firm, while SurveyMonkey co-founders Ryan Finley and Chris Finley will stay with the company and keep minority stakes. 2
