The images of what happened yesterday, in G Street, with my husband, Reinaldo Escobar, and other friends are, to me, too reminiscent of repudiation rallies of 1980. Look for yourself and tell me if it doesn't seem the same.
Note: The first video is of the 'spontaneous demonstration' against the bloggers
Note: This second video shows Reinaldo Escobar attacked by the crowd, before he is taken away by State Security agents. Reinaldo is in a grey shirt, with dark curly hair. Some of the people clinging tightly to him are his friends, trying to protect him from the crowd.

Yoani Sanchez: Tomorrow's Political Leaders Stand Among the Thousands of Cubans Who Read Us
Continuing my periodic posting of the work of my fellow bloggers, I am posting here today the most recent essay by Miriam Celaya, where she discusses the role of bloggers in the politics of Cuba today.
The life and death struggles were in the hundred of thousands of dead who were murdered by the US sponsored dictatorships throughout Latin America. Castro and his regime while not one that I like or approve of, is NOT even close to those US bloodsoaked regimes. Let's get REAL and get some perspective!
I recall what the US did to Japanese Americans right after Pearl Harbor. If there had been any people rallying in favor of the Japanese in the USA at the time, they would have been killed on the spot. You also have to remember the response of the Japanese Americans who had themselves and their families treated so unjustly. They understood the fact that this was a temporary measure for wartime, and that it was not what the US government was all about. So despite their imprisonment, many of them volunteered to go and fight for the US and many gave their lives. It took decades before their heroism and devotion to the US was acknowledged. They continued their fight after the war and they were successful. I hope for similar success in your fight to restore democratic norms in Cuba. It is a poor choice to look for allies in the US government since you will only be used as tools for their benefit..
