Yu Zhou
Yu Zhou is professor in Department of Earth Science and Geography,
Vassar College, and Zijiang professor at East China Normal University
in Shanghai. She received her bachelor and master’s degree in Urban
and Environmental Sciences at Peking University in China, and PhD in
Geography from University of Minnesota in 1995. She has been teaching
at Vassar College since. She was the director of Asian Studies during
2002-2006, and the Chair of Department of Earth Science and Geography
during 2008-2011. Her current research is on globalization and
high-tech industry in China. Her book The inside story of China’s
high-tech industry: making Silicon Valley in Beijing was published by
Rowman and Littlefield Publisher in 2008. She is a recipient of
several major national and international grants including grants from the
National Science Foundation. In 2008, she was selected as one of the
twenty Public Intellectual Fellows by the National Committee on
U.S.-China Relations.
