Happy Thanksgiving, wonderful readers!

This week marks the beginning of the Holiday Party Marathon that many of us run until mid January. As such, it is the perfect time to experiment with new products that will help you take your look from "Office" to "Office Party" and beyond. Each Holiday Party gives you the opportunity to express a different aspect of your personality, and because, "tis the season" for Salons to offer fun gift sets and promotions on new products, you have the perfect opportunity to try out looks, you may not be inclined to try at other times of the year.

If your boss has picked a bar downtown for the staff gathering, pick up a texture spray to transform your smooth daytime tresses into party ready waves. Look for products with sea salt and minerals to give your hair a casual lived-in feel. Toss a bottle in your purse, mist your hair in the cab, scrunch it up and let it go. Texture sprays are highly versatile, as you can slowly build up a fun, roughened texture that can be worn down or pulled up into a sexy, tousled updo.

An uptown party might call for more refinement and polish. For such a fete, stash dry shampoo or volumizing powder in your bottom desk drawer. These products will help inflate your locks and erase a workday's worth of flattening oils - in addition to adding body, they provide grip and hold for sculpting your hair into voluptuous chignons and twists.

Trying to keep your look natural for an intimate evening with family and friends? Forgo the texture and volume, but definitely rehydrate your tresses, abused by eight hours of your office's desiccating heating system. Look for hydrating mists that emit a very fine veil of spray. The goal is to regain luster and shine, not to drench your hair or promote frizz. For the greatest hydration - and a bit of indulgence - choose a mist that contains a fine essential oil. In addition to a glassy shine, they'll also impart a luxurious fragrance so you can leave your perfume at home.

If you are like many of my clients, the next few weeks will bring you ample opportunities to try one or all of these day to night products. If, however, you are more of a hands-on learner, come visit me and my team for a one on one lesson - especially if you are visiting from abroad to experience the season in true New York style. We'd love to have you, and wish you the Happiest of Holidays!
