Ms. Yvonne Tsikata is the World Bank Country Director for the Caribbean covering Antigua and Barbuda, The Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Grenada, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, and Trinidad and Tobago, in the Latin America and the Caribbean Region.

A Ghanaian national, Ms. Tsikata joined the World Bank in August 1991 as a Young Professional, and since then she has held various positions, her most recent assignment being Sector Manager for the Poverty Reduction and Economic Management Unit in the Africa Region.

Yvonne previously held positions in the World Bank’s International Trade Department and the Independent Evaluation Group, and in addition to Africa, her regional experience includes South and East Asia, and Europe and Central Asia. She holds undergraduate and graduate degrees from Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania and New York University respectively.

Prior to joining the World Bank, Ms. Tsikata lectured at New York University, where she taught monetary theory and macroeconomic policy. Her research interests include international trade, debt management, public expenditure management, aid effectiveness, and the political economy of reform. Between 1998 and 2001, while on external service from the World Bank, she served as a senior research fellow at the Economic and Social Research Foundation in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania, and as a consultant to the OECD in Paris and to the United Nations University’s World Institute for Development Economics Research (WIDER) in Helsinki.
