  • Monday: Vegan Burger Showdown

    <a href="">Mohawk Bend's</a> chef Mike Garber competes against fellow chefs Jet Tila (<a href="">The Charleston</a>) and Kajsa Alger (<a href="">STREET</a>) in the inaugural Vegan Burger Showdown at the Echo Park gastropub. The chefs will be judged by an esteemed panel of experts, and customers can give it a whirl with the $12 burger plate, which features one slider from each chef.   • Tuesday: The Thompson Beverly Hills

    As part of its Tuesday night summer movie series, catch <i>The Goonies</i> tonight on the rooftop at the Thompson Beverly Hills. Grab a cabana or settle in poolside for the flick - you get free popcorn, or you can order off of the special movie-night menu from <a href="">Caulfield's</a>, which includes anything from Milk Duds to a NY Strip and bottle of red.   • Wednesday: The Bagel Broker

    <a href="">The Bagel Broker</a> turns 25 this year, and its month-long celebration starts today. If it's your birthday, show your ID and get a free bagel sandwich and coffee from 8-10 AM.   • Thursday: Border Grill

    Join Mary Sue Milliken and Susan Feniger for a special tequila dinner at the Santa Monica <a href="">Border Grill</a> tonight. The menu features crudo tostadas, a contemporary twist on chile rellenos, braised-brisket enchiladas, and horchata panna cotta, with Tequila Revolucion cocktail pairings.   • Friday: Cafe del Rey

    Kick off the weekend with a $20 pitcher of sangria at Marina del Rey's <a href="">Cafe del Rey</a>. The flavors change weekly - anything from white peach to summer berries - and go pretty well with bar snacks like olive-and-feta flatbread or steamed mussels with chorizo. And sunsets.   • Saturday: LA Taco Fest

    Head to Boyle Heights for the <a href="">LA Taco Fest</a>, featuring live music, family events and plenty of tacos from <a href="">La Barca Grill & Cantina</a>, <a href="">Candela's</a>, <a href="">El Tepeyac</a> and more. The festival is free; food costs extra. Since it takes place in Mariachi Plaza, take the Gold Line - it stops right there.   • Sunday: Tom Bergin's

    Laze into Sunday with brunch at <a href="">Tom Bergin's</a>. This is the first time in the restaurant's 75-plus history that you can get things like Irish breakfast (two fried eggs, chicken sausage, rashers, black pudding, soda bread), Irish coffee cake made with Bushmill's, and breakfast cocktails made with whiskey and marmalade.
