In The Throes Of Fashion: An Open Invitation To London Fashion Week

I still remember my first time. I was a young naive girl of 21. Bright eyed, easily impressed and totally impressionable. It didn't take much to excite me, so, boy was I dazzled. Lights, cameras, fashion! After watching my first runway show at New York Fashion Week in 2005, I was hooked. This haute romance -- as they usually are -- has been a long and winding road that's now led me to London, England where in addition to maintaining my duties as a contributing style writer to several publications I am earning my masters in Fashion at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design.

While here, it's only right that I attend a few shows. In the past, I've done my share of sneaking in (I'll never forget crashing the Heatherette show with the Village Voice's Lynn Yaeger last spring), thrilling over style stars (when Tim Gunn of Project Runway told me I was stunning I nearly melted in his arms), and talking smack about designers (my comments on Jennifer Lopez' first Sweet Face collection almost got me fired from my first job.) Today, I am proud to say that I have put such girlish stunts behind me (sort of!) and am now reporting from the catwalk as a seasoned -- or at least lightly salted -- style writer. As you read this, London Fashion Week is beginning to build momentum and will crescendo into must-see shows such as Vivienne Westwood, and new phenom on the catwalk Christopher Kane. Less buzzed, but equally worthy designer such as Stinha Stanic and the return of Ossie Clarke are also intriguing the international fashion set. From start to finish I will be capturing amazing personalities and commenting on the many colorful aspects of the fashion week experience.
