Movie Review: The Proposal

Posted June 22, 2009 | 02:07 PM (EST)

Predicable? You bet. Original? Hardly. But what keeps audiences of this lite-fare comedy in their seats is the undeniable on-screen chemistry between leads Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds. The two are so adept at comedy and have so much fun with one another, viewers watching The Proposal won't be able...

Movie Review: Observe & Report

Posted April 9, 2009 | 11:53 PM (EST)

Don't confuse Observe and Report with that other mallcop movie "Paul Blart: Mallcop." The latter was a fuzzy, feel-good family comedy starring Kevin James as a lovable, goofy head of security at a mall. Observe, on the other hand, is much darker, often violent, bizarre and mostly unfunny movie starring...

The 2009 Oscar Swag Awards

Posted February 24, 2009 | 02:44 PM (EST)

With the Academy Awards upon us, it's freebie time again. This year, star wattage was considerably lower than in previous years though there was no shortage of gifting suites around town. Was the low-keyness due to the country's economic situation? Were publicists hesitant about having their clients be seen collecting...

As George W. Bush's presidency comes to an end, it's clear there is no love lost between him and Hollywood. In the largely Democratic town of Tinsel, many voters wish Dubya had gotten the boot a long time ago. While Jay, Dave, Conan and countless other comedians always roast whoever...

Awards For Swag? We Got 'Em!

Posted September 22, 2008 | 10:25 AM (EST)

It's a storied tradition that brings out the stars. The ones who walk away with the prizes are photographed and go home happy. The Emmys? The Oscars? The Golden Globes? No, The Gifting Suites. Think Swag, rhymes with Bag. As in, a bag full of free stuff.

These gifting...

You Don't Know Dick!

Posted April 13, 2008 | 11:59 PM (EST)

Up until recently, Hollywood wasn't doing Dick. But now it is. I'm talking about going balls out, literally, on full-frontal male nudity in films.

This month, two new releases boast "the man-gina" as co-star: Universal Pictures' Forgetting Sarah Marshall, and New Line Cinema's Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo...
