Obama Campaign Takes the Fight to FOX

digg Share this on Facebook Huffpost - stumble reddit del.ico.us RSS

FOX News is in the desperate throes of backing a losing party.  Despite what Megyn "Obama's Baby Mama" Kelly would have you believe, FOX has been the GOP's mouthpiece throughout this election, viciously maligning Barack Obama while pushing the party's conservative agenda. (For proof of just how much slander they have spewed, check out FOX Attacks Obama, FOX Attacks Obama 2, or FOX Attacks Obama Just Like Kerry.) In fact, I hold them as responsible as McCain's most bigoted supporters for stoking the racial prejudice and xenophobic hatred that we're now seeing in campaign events across the country.  Amazingly though, the Obama campaign has begun calling out FOX for their loathsome media bias.

First, Obama criticized FOX on national television during the third presidential debate.  Then, in an interview for The New York Times Sunday magazine, Obama told Matt Bai, "I am convinced that if there were no Fox News, I might be two or three points higher in the polls."  And now we have Obama staffers confronting FOX on their own network.  Just watch as Bill Burton remains unflappable during this heated exchange with Kelly, who completely loses her cool.

In response to McCain's ludicrous attack on Obama for being "the Redistributor" of wealth -- an attack FOX has of course perpetuated and exacerbated with their Joe the Plumber socialist nonsense -- Burton calmly tells Kelly: "This is a fake news controversy drummed up by the all too common alliance of FOX News, the Drudge Report and John McCain, who apparently decided to close out his campaign with the same false, desperate attacks that have failed for months."

It is, as Burton says, a fake news controversy. Even conservatives like George Will have said that 95 percent of the government's job is to redistribute wealth. But in a hopeless attempt to paint Obama as a Socialist, the Republicans and FOX News alike are on the verge of losing a crucial ideological battle on free market fundamentalism, which is probably why Burton's composure causes Kelly to become choleric.

FOX isn't merely rearranging the deck chairs on the GOP's Titanic anymore.  They're violently throwing those chairs at everyone trying to make their way to a lifeboat.

Because of their bias, I no longer watch FOX. Gretchen and O'Reilly are the main ones that I would personally slap down. I'll watch MSNBC and that's it. Otherwise I look to the internet to find my news. If you think about it, what type of news do you get on CBS, NBC, or ABC? I know not much. And that is where the masses get their news. Sad, pitiful situation. Our press is no longer free. This administration has ignored the constitution of the United States of America. Unbelievable!

In my day, we gutted reporters like that.

One of the main reasons that McCain is loosing and Bush's approval rating is so low is because FOX News and their radio show pundits have NO credibility whatsoever. They have lied to and misled this country over and over and into and after disaster after disaster.

It is very disheartening they way Fox News cultivates rage in this country with Limabugh doing so on AM radio. They don't inform they just represent a Neocon ideology from some of the worst people in this country. This is a list of people that are powerful and wealthy and amoral. The likes of Murdoch,Ailes Cheney Rove O'Rielly Hannity Beck Kristol, the list goes on. These Neocon thugs have cultivated a great deal of damage in this country that they have successfully blamed on liberals and the Clintons. The only thing they care about is their power and wealth and it is sad that the viewers and listeners of these outlets are incapable of realizing this. Which will only make them more powerful and wealthy. Hey Fox News viewers these people are not on your side. The more liberal media is not really on the side of anyone, the same goes for the right wing media outlets.

Materialism has destroyed our country, in my humble opinion. How can you justify unethical behavior just because you get a pay check. I had to walk away from Corp. America because I couldn't do it.

Fox News is an abusive news propaganda factory . They have reached the highest level of deception in the market through manipulation and intimidation.

The GOP's tactic of launching a bevy of shrill, rude, overtalking bleach blondes isn't proving very effective. AWwwwwwhh. Fox News is going down.

Gee, I wish you would write a piece on the fair and balanced MSNBC. Why do you think Fox is #1? They give both sides better then CNN or MSNBC, that's why.

If the demo congress passes some legislation requiring fair and balanced reporting Fox with all its big Albatross contracts with Hannity, Billo and Beck will go in the tank. If the FCC gets some reasonable commissioners who will break up these oligarchies it will just happen faster.

Fox has more viewers because it is the one news outlet with a totally conservative point of view. If you're a conservative, you watch Fox. That's why its the only channel Cheney would allow on the tvs in his offices. If you are not right of Attia the Hun, there are tons of channels to watch, so the audience is split. If there were ONLY Fox News and CNN, CNN be #1.

Fox has on representatives from all perspectives, but they either try to shout them down or refuse to admit anyone else has a valid argument if it is not the Fox party line. Then, the minute the speaker leaves (if not pro-Fox), they trash the speaker. This is one reason I was unhappy when Obama went on Fox. He dignified these smear merchants by his presence.

Quite some time ago there was a term--yellow journalism. In my opinion with the coverage of Ashley Todd, Fox has sunk lower than that.

Fox is the equivilant of grocery store tabloids. You know, the ones in the checkout lanes. But worse than that, they are the equivilant of those tabloids at the bottom of the racks, the ones that blast out headlines like "Werewolf attacks woman in New York City", or "Woman gives birth to half man half horse".

I really don't know whose going to hire any of those people who work at Fox when that station folds. They are the laughing stock of the industry.

R. Murdock's Newscorp should be sued for false advertising and issued a cease and desist notice banning Fox News until they re name it something without 'News' in the title. They no more report news than I walk on the moon. If they are 'fair and balanced' I'm an amoeba. It should be called the
Fox Extreme Right Wing Comedy Hour...because it is so laughable.

i don't watch fox for anything...you won't find out what is going on in the real world...you will only hear what is going on in the world they want to create.

STOP WATCHING FIXED NOISE!

It is interesting to me how angry republican talking heads get. This woman lost it, Elisabeth Hasselbeck on the view loses it all the time, Ann Coulter, Bill O, and Hannity. What is wrong with these people.
Obviously the reason why our side has stayed cool is because we have reality and facts to back us up, while the GOP is stuck on emotion..and stupidity!

Either get rid of fixed noise, or make them say it is republican news 24/7...at least be honest...for once!

What an excellent video. I can't believe that those Fox News bobble heads can say the things they say with a straight face.

And to think that anyone can utter the phrase liberal media with a straight face. Here's FOX and their right-wing party in action:

They're Morally Bankrupt, just like John McChapter 7.

If anyone you know needs a reminder on how they operate and what they've done to the country, view it and pass it on. We need to end this Lunacy.

Excellent post.

I love the way this woman conducts an "interview." As soon as the guest says something that doesn't fit the Fox agenda (like that Fox has an agenda) start flapping those lips and interrupting, while demanding that the guest let her make pronouncements.
She should watch a real interviewer, who would ask a question and, realizing that the point is not to her opinion, lets the guest answer the question.

I don't think I have seen any Fox person allow an interviewee answer a question. Why do they bother having anyone on their shows (also begs the question of why anyone agrees to go on their shows) if really all they want to do is make their own pronouncements.

Yeah, I don't think it suits people to show up for FOX. They should be completely de-emphasized. Their purpose is to either coddle or bully, and their influence on modern politics has been positively toxic.
I think the reason they have guests is purely influence peddling. They are "The Culture War channel." It's like the right wings "Think Tank boob-tube."

More people watch Fox than MSNBC or CNN.

Not me. I consider Fox an editorial outlet, not a news outlet.

If you do not think MSNBC is an editorial outlet I give up.
