Coke Eyes $1 Billion Scottish Mineral Water Company

Coca-Cola is in talks to buy the Highland Spring bottled water brand after failing to act on the promise of launching a bottled water of its own this summer.

The acquisition could cost the company up to £500m and follows the news that Coke has purchased vitamin water maker Glaceau in the US for $4.1bn (£2.07bn).

Highland Spring is the number two player in UK bottled mineral water after Danone which produces Evian and Volvic.

Previous talks between Highland Spring, whose turnover is £55m per year, and Coke have struggled.
