Classic Oscars Don't Make Great Investments

Just how much is an Oscar worth?

That's the controversial question that has Hollywood buzzing. Orson Welles' Academy Award for "Citizen Kane" will be auctioned at Sotheby's New York on Dec. 11, giving anyone with a big bank account the chance to win an Oscar.

"People collect things for a number of reasons and one aspect is to show it off and the other is investment side. And if you're looking from the investment side it's probably just not an area that people want to get into," said Daniel Cohen, author of The Official Price Guide to Movie Autographs and Memorabilia.
