Two weeks ago, In Touch published a story claiming that Britney Spears is pregnant. Us Weekly immediately put those rumors to rest, but In Touch fought back, claiming it had text message confirmation from supposed-father J.R. Rotem that Britney was, indeed, pregnant (no matter that those text messages could be easily faked). Last week's In Touch cover featured the Rotem texts, showing that In Touch was standing behind its scoop.
Today, we enter Week 3 of In Touch Britney pregnancy covers, forcing us to question: Is the mag that sure of its scoop that it's putting out three covers in a row on a story that everyone else dismissed as a rumor? Might Britney actually be pregnant with her third child, or is In Touch playing games with its readers to boost slumping newsstand numbers?
