Former Prudential Chair's Son In Wife-Beating Rap

The son of the legendary "King of the Rock" at Prudential Financial viciously socked his wife during a spat at Robert De Niro's trendy Greenwich Hotel in TriBeCa, police said yesterday.

Arthur W. Ryan, whose father, Arthur F. Ryan, two weeks ago stepped down as chairman of Prudential - known for its Rock of Gibraltar logo and ad slogan "Get a Piece of the Rock" - is accused of beating his much younger wife, Kyle, in a drunken rage early Wednesday, authorities said.

The high-living couple had rented a room at the swanky boutique hotel to celebrate the recent birth of their first child - a daughter - and spent the evening drinking, law-enforcement sources said.

But, the mood of the evening took a terrible turn when they returned to their room at around 1 a.m., sources said.

During an argument, Ryan, 43, pushed his wife against the wall.

Kyle, 25, grabbed the room phone and frantically dialed 911 before Ryan shoved her against the wall again, then punched her square in the face, sources said.
