Biker's Paradise: Some Streets Will Bar Cars In October

Imagine a block party that goes on for miles.

That's how advocates see "Sunday Parkways," which will shut off a network of inner-city boulevards to cars on two Sundays in October and open the streets to bicyclists and pedestrians.

The first parkway route will run from Logan Square to Garfield Park from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Oct. 5. The second will run from Garfield Park through Little Village from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Oct. 26.

Sections of certain streets -- including parts of Kedzie, Central Park and Sacramento -- will be closed to motor vehicles.
