A Reggie Love-Style Media Critique

A Reggie Love-Style Media Critique

Ana Marie Cox scored a great get today with Barack Obama's "body man" and former Duke basketball player Reggie Love, and she's been so over the moon with enthusiasm that she's even contemplating reconsidering her longstanding antipathy to the Duke Blue Devils. Such is the "power" of "Love" that Huey Lewis and his News warned you about. And speaking of the news, check out this interview pull:

AMC: OK, one last question, and I'm totally serious, how much sucking up happens when reporters play with Barack?

RL: Well, you should ask Dan [Balz], from the Washington Post or Richard Wolfe from Newsweek... there's not a lot of sucking up going on.

AMC: You think they play their hardest?

RL: Those guys definitely play their hardest. It's just that... well...lemme say they were not the sharpest knives in the drawer. [Reggie also wrote to make sure I made it clear that he just was talking basketball skills, not general mental ability.]

Love also demurred from comparing John McCain to an NBA team. I'd compare him to former NBA ref Tim Donaghy, myself.
