Why Burnham Still Matters To Chicago

Daniel Burnham's exhortation "Make no little plans" doesn't appear in his Plan of Chicago, but that 1909 document, called the beginning of modern urban planning, is the embodiment of those words if ever there was one.

This year's Chicago Humanities Festival is a celebration of the upcoming centennial of the plan, and its theme is Thinking Big.

On Nov. 2, lifelong Chicagoan Lee Bey will moderate a discussion of the plan and its impact on the city at noon in the Harris Theater at 205 E. Randolph St..
