Lake County Voter Registration Fraud Lawsuit Heads To Federal Court

A lawsuit by the Illinois Republican Party alleging voter registration fraud in Lake County will now move to federal court.

Attorneys for two of the defendants in the case, Citizen Action/Illinois and Terrence LeNoir, have filed a petition for the case to be moved from state to federal court.

A status hearing scheduled for Wednesday in Lake County Circuit Court was postponed until a federal judge decides whether a federal or state court will hear the case.

Officials for the Illinois and Lake County Republican Party called the move a stalling tactic by Democrats to delay a decision in the case until after the election.

But Matt Flamm, an attorney for the Lake County Democratic Party, said Republicans only filed the suit on Tuesday, just seven days before the election, and that the suit raises federal law issues.
