Gov. Blagojevich has been invited to the Grant Park rally, according to a note from the governor's office to Capitol Fax.
Barack Obama's most famous supporter, Oprah Winfrey, and actor Samuel L. Jackson head the list of prominent names who will be front and center in Grant Park for the Senator's election night rally, CBS 2's Mike Flannery reports.
Senator Dick Durbin and Mayor Richard Daley, whose enthusiasm for the event has not always been in sync with the Obama campaign's planning, are expected to speak and a host of local political figures will be in the audience. Among those on the "growing" VIP list:
Playboy CEO Christie Hefner and husband Bill Marovitz, Democratic State Committeeman Emil Jones and wife Lorrie Jones, U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. and wife 7th Ward Ald. Sandi Jackson, State Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias, Cook County Board President Todd Stroger, State Comptroller Dan Hynes, and Attorney General Lisa Madigan.
The entire Chicago Congressional delegation is also expected. But more notable than who is attending is who is not.
Flannery reports that Gov. Rod Blagojevich has not been invited to the potentially historic event, despite it being held in his home city and its significance to his party and the state he governs.
The snub is not surprising given the federal indictments of close Blagojevich allies and is consistent with his treatment at the Democratic National Convention, when he was denied a speaking role while other Democratic governors and lower-ranking Illinois politicians addressed the delegates.
