Tony Blair To Hold Talks With Israeli, Palestinian Officials

Tony Blair will visit the Middle East next week as the international community steps up its efforts to broker a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. Mr. Blair, the international envoy to the Middle East, will hold talks with Israeli and Palestinian officials during the trip. The discussions are expected to focus on how to end the current violence, which has killed more than 300 people so far.

The former prime minister, who is the envoy for the EU, Russia, United States and UN, spent yesterday contacting senior figures including the Israeli Defence Minister, Ehud Barak, as international pressure for a ceasefire mounted, the Independent reports.
