Menendez Drops Omnibus Opposition

Sen. Robert Menendez (D-N.J.) pushed back strongly Tuesday against criticism from the left over his initial opposition to the $410 billion omnibus spending package.

Menendez's opposition forced Senate Democratic leaders last week to delay a pivotal vote on the package after they were one-vote shy of the 60 needed to advance the spending bill. Menendez, who takes a hard-line position on Cuba, objected to language in the bill that he feared would have softened the U.S. embargo on the country.
