Rod and Patti Blagojevich plan to attend the funeral of the former governor's close friend and aide on Wednesday.
Christopher Kelly, 51, died Saturday morning of a suspected overdose that authorities said today is being considered a suicide. A key Blagojevich fundraiser and adviser, Kelly was facing three federal indictments, including in the Blagojevich corruption case, and was scheduled to begin serving a three-year sentence for tax fraud Friday.
A statement released Tuesday by Blagojevich's publicist Glenn Selig said only that the Blagojeviches would attend Kelly's funeral mass.
The impeached former governor has blamed pressure from federal prosecutors on Kelly to cooperate in the case against him for contributing to his friend's death.
