Teen Stars and DoSomething.org Team Up to Collect 1M Lbs. Of Food

What makes teens want to organize a food drive? Altruism? Community service requirements? How about the cast of ABC's The Secret Life of The American Teenager?

Bingo. At least that's what DoSomething.Org is banking on for their Feed The Need food drive. The Secret Life cast and DoSomething.org hope to inspire teens across the country to collect 1 million pounds of food this holiday season.

Last year, the organization raised a million pounds of food, and hopes they can do even better this year. Through November, middle and high schools, sports teams, Do Something Clubs, church groups and teens nationwide are leading food drives to help fight hunger and reach the million pound mark. According to the drive site, they've already collected 18,250 pounds of food.

As if bringing hope to communities in need isn't enough to get teens involved, DoSomething.org has pledged a pizza party for the group that raises the most and a $1000 donation to their community's local food bank. Nothing says "Let's celebrate a group of future community leaders" like free pizza.

The drive runs until December 15, so it's not too late to get your school or community group involved. Visit Do Something's drive site to learn how to get involved.
