World Pole Dancing Competition Includes Men's Category (VIDEO)

The World Pole Dancing Competition in Tokyo brought together women and men--yes, that's right, male pole dancers--from 11 countries, including Brazil, Australia, Russia, England and Japan. Although pole dancing is typically reserved for gentleman's clubs marked with neon lighting, it's made its way into some gyms as a type of work out and is increasingly being considered a serious sport. The ladies' champion remarked, "I really wanted to show something that was different from the stereotypical image," and the winning man said, "It was great to see men's pole dancing at such a high standard."
