Dwight Howard was fined $15,000 for criticizing referees in November. Apparently his new strategy is to give them the ball.
Trailing the Celtics by nine midway through the third quarter Thursday night, Howard stole the ball from Boston and attempted to start a fast break by passing the ball downcourt to a teammate. The only problem was that the man Howard thought to be a teammate was, in fact, a referee. With no Magic player anywhere even remotely nearby, the ball bounced out of bounds.
Fortunately for Howard, the squandered opportunity did not prove costly -- though it nearly did. Orlando topped Boston by two points. Scroll down for video.
