Bristol Palin's Acting Debut: Sarah Palin's Daughter Plays Self On 'Secret Life of the American Teenager'

Bristol Palin's career has taken a new turn. ABC Family announced Tuesday that the former governor of Alaska's teenager daughter will be making her acting debut on "The Secret Life of the American Teenager" -- a show about the consequences of teen pregnancy.

"I am thrilled to be on this show and to be part of a program that educates teens and young adults about the consequences of teen pregnancy," Palin said in a statement. "Secret Life" executive producer Brenda Hampton was similarly thrilled in her own statement, released by ABC: "We're thrilled to have [Bristol] join us, and I think she will bring additional attention to the issues facing teen parents that we've been exploring for a couple seasons now." Palin will play herself on the show.

Palin, 19, gave birth to son Tripp on December 27, 2008. She is estranged from baby-daddy Levi Johnston (who she is suing for child support), but continues to be a vocal advocate for teen abstinence. (Johnston has called her campaign "unrealistic.")

On Oprah recently, Palin was given the chance to backtrack on her statement that she'd never have sex again before she got married -- but she didn't take it.

Oprah asked, "Don't you think you are setting yourself up?," and Bristol responded, "No, I don't."
