South Side Irish Parade Goes Small

Contrary to what you may have heard, the 31st annual South Side Irish Parade did march down Western in Beverly on Sunday. You just weren't invited.

It didn't block the street. There were no bagpipers or fire trucks or glad-handing politicians. This year's South Side parade was an intimate affair -- a throwback to its 1979 roots, when the Coakley and Hendry families pushed a stroller around the block a couple of times.
